No surprises.  Four Big East teams in, Providence hanging on as an 11 seed.  G'Town outside looking in.

But wait Chicos....MU is not in? That is a surprise.

Who the F cares about the NCAA tourney this year?? I for one will not be watching it. Can't remember the last time I didn't take off work to watch games, but I couldn't care less about it this year. MU's season has left me so bitter and pissed off, not to mention them being in this crap conference, it's really ruined college hoops for me. You all enjoy watching the tourney. Whatever floats your boat.

Based on the arrangement of teams this season and next season, where would you have preferred Marquette end up?

Jeeze take it easy partner.

This needs to be tacked on the door leading into the team's locker room.

They should know what they're playing for.

If this isn't motivating enough, I don't know what is.

I would have preferred greed not torn apart the Big east. That's what i would have preferred.

As bad as the overall college basketball product is, I still plan watching.  Too many good story lines and fun moments.

So I take it you never watched MU when we were in CUSA...or the Great Midwest...or the Horizon League? All of those conferences sucked far more than the one we are in now.

And I'm sick of hearing about how conference realignment ruined college sports for some people. If it weren't for conference realignment, we would have NEVER been invited to a conference called the BiG East.

Technically, we were in the Midwest Collegiate Conference not the Horizon....though today's Horizon is the spawn of that conference.

Of course I did. Yeah it's better than those conferences, but not by a whole lot IMO, and it's a HUGE drop off from the old BE. Saying they are in a better conference then where they were 10 years ago is being disingenuous to where they were before they ended up in this conference. it was a HUGE downgrade and anyone that thinks otherwise is full of sh*t. Sure for Butler and Xavier and Creighton it's great....they took a major step upwards. Heck even DePaul fans like this conference better, they are more competitive. MU is probably the one school hurt the most in this conference by the step back. What's even more pathetic, is they can't compete in this conference when in reality, they should be the Memphis of this conference.

So...at first glance, I wonder why we arent on the bubble. Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't pomeroy only evaluate statistics...and largely ignore who wins and losses games? In other words, the selection committee emphasizes wins and losses....not statistics. Pomeroy does the opposite. Am I wrong?

The Bracket Matrix is a collection of bracket projections, some good and some not so good.  All it takes is for a few brackets to have a team as a 12 or 13 seed and suddenly you're on the bubble.  If you look at Wake Forest, three brackets picked them, but two of them were from 4 or 5 days ago....they've lost twice since then.  I suspect when those two brackets are updated, they will no longer be considered.

For the record, Wake's RPI is 83 and MU's is 86.

I tend to look at how many brackets pick a team..what the consensus is.  Right up until selection show, when you find the teams that are picked 75% to 90%, those usually are your bubble teams, though some have gotten in at lower rates.

What about the second part of my post? You didn't comment on that. This is where you should say, "if it weren't for conference realignment, we might still be in CUSA. And then I should admit that I would have less to bit€h about."

So the fact that we are currently ranked by experts as the 4th best conference this season means nothing?

The fact that the BEast is 5-5 this year against the B1G, supposedly the best conference in basketball means nothing?

The fact that the BEast has 14 2014 top 100 players signed for next season, tied for 2nd most of any conference (ACC has 20 with 7 of them going to Duke/UNC. SEC also has 14 with 4 of them going to Kentucky) despite only having 10 teams means nothing?

Is it a step down from the old BEast? Absolutely. But you are making it sound like we joined CUSA or something. Plus, this conference comes with every single game being on national television and getting three times the $$$ we used to. As a fan, I would rather be in the old BEast, but the program is in a much better spot. Unfortunately, this is one of those situations where we can't have our cake and eat it too.

Last I looked, BEast was 4th in Conference RPI, ahead of the exalted ACC. So I think you are wrong about our conference. And if as you say, it is a crappy conference, what does that say about MU this year who is wallowing in 6th and fighting to stay out of 8th?

Clearly, the only way for you to regain meaning in your life is to never watch Marquette -- or any college basketball -- ever again.
