For being a really good defender Derrick has looked pedestrian the last 2 games...this season is lost, play Dawson and see what he can do...overall it can't be worse than Derrick's complete game.

need a lot more Dawson, Taylor, Burton and Mayo...

need a lot less of De Wilson, Thomas, Andersen and the combined Oxtule lineup...

at 11 - 9, the season is essentially over other than a run in the BE tourney.  IT will be even more frustrating to watch buzz stick with De Wilson and Thomas and not give the talented frosh some playing time to develop...

This is what I have been saying.  If you are willing to let him play significant minutes to see what he can do, you have to also be willing to say that the season is over and you are ok with the outcome.  If you are want to win then you play who you feel gives you the best chance to win.

Yep! Our guard play was terrible both ways. Mayo had a great game. What happened to Dawson? D-Wil andJT really sucked.

Ahh yeah genius...because playing Dawson 30 minutes against GTown and Dawson winning the game for us in Overtime led to another loss.

And I've seen 9 losses know to know without question Derrick and Jake paired together give us our worst chance to win.

After his atrocious game against G'Town, he only merited 8 minutes today.

I can't wait to hear Buzz's answer to this.

My thinking is he'll point to the fact that MU was in the game to win it, and MU didn't hit enough FTs or make enough defensive stops to win this game.

So it's not really Dawson's offensive output that may have made the difference, rather his teammates' lack of production.

What did he do today to earn more?  He hit that long three...and got absolutely abused on defense twice giving up layups to Bell and another guy whose name escapes me.  The offense was no better with him on e floor today unlike at GT.

Frankly I was surprised that he wasn't put in at the end of regulation to give us another shooter on the floor.

No we couldnt live without JAKE AND DERRICKS 6 points in 74 minutes today........ it was ground breaking.... smh

I am a glass half empty guy.  I quickly go to the lowest common denominator, I blame, rant and rave after a loss.  I'm completely perplexed how MU was in this game at all, they were miserable from 3 and mediocre from the line, didn't board all that well and went to OT with a really good team.

That being said, the timing and nature of our TO's and the empty possessions just kill me.  I have been an MU fan my whole life and the last few years have been so great that this year is catapulting me back to the dark ages.  Admittedly, the losses and Woodford Reserve are making me a sore loser.

I just can't take it.

I wish Dawson would have played more today. However, I'm sure Buzz was seeing that the offense was playing well with Derrick today. And Buzz clearly feels Derrick is the better defender, so it made sense to have Derrick on the court in Buzz's mind.

I guess I just don't understand why this matters so much. It's not like the missed 20 shots. The gameplan was to go inside. And we did. And we were extremely successful at it. Why does it matter that our guards only scored 6? They weren't required to score any more until the end of the game when Mayo clearly provided what we needed.

This game was lost on the defensive side of the court.

You are going to ride this Georgetown game because that is all you got.  So against a team which everyone is saying is having a down year (worse than MU's they are down to like 8 scholarship players) and Dawson does well by all accounts and he is a savior.  Wilson has had to play against all of the really good teams.  Can you admit that Wisconsin, ASU, NMU, SDSU, OSU, and Nova are all better than Georgetown?  In all of the games except OSU MU was in the game.

Against Nova Dawson was horrible.  1-4, no assists, no rebounds, and didn't get into the proper passing lane.  He also got an 8 minute run.

I like how you conveniently leave off Wilson's seven assists nor point out that Wilson scored all six of those points.  That is 20 points directly connected to Wilson yet Wilson is the problem?

Wilson is not the reason we lost this game.  If you can't admit that then you aren't being honest.

I'm not sure why I even engage in a debate with a guy as clueless as you - but, FYI, Georgetown's backcourt is considered the best in the Big East.  And, Georgetown is the ONLY game Dawson's gotten over 20 minutes of playing time in...so its the only game we can use to judge.  As for today, Dawson got 2, 4-minute segments - missed a couple of good looks at the basket - sadly, if he made them he probably would have gotten more time.

I've seen 16 out of 19 games with Derrick putting up horsesh$t numbers in over 30 minutes of play.  A see a team 10-9 under his direction.  I see this being a really talented MU team.  Best post player in years, most talented wing player per Buzz's words we've had in Jamil.  A talented guard in Mayo that gets jacked around with his playing time.  A nice developing sophomore in Steve Taylor.  Promising freshman in Dawson and Burton.

Why do you think Jake Thomas played SO MUCH better against Georgetown, but was invisible today against NOVA??  To go from 16 against G'Town to 0 against Nova?  I'm going to guess it has a little something to do with his backcourt mate.  Still, Mayo should be getting 30, and Jake 10 at that position..

1) GT played a zone which gives up open looks to outside shooters

2) Nova played man the entire game

3) the Nova player guarding Jake was in his shorts the entire game.  They executed a great game plan to take him out of the game, and it worked.

You watched a different game. His first appearance in the game last like 5 possessions. The first one was the only one we didn't score on, Dawson missed the open floater.

Offense was flowing great with him in.....again.

He played 30+ very forgettable minutes and got ran circles around by Archiediacono when it counted ala overtime today.. Bravo...

Actually, Jake's defenders were just keeping in front of him.  Renders him useless.

Mayo played well, but we lost this game because Nova's guards crushed ours, as well as Bell schooling Ja. Wilson. What did we have like about 60 points to their 24 in the paint?

I think you are right on the money - and if you look at this game again you will see both Jake and Wilson playing poor D...
Not so much because they aren't trying but because the competition is so much better.

Yet in those 8 minutes Dawson was in he tallied a +/- of -7.  Clearly we didn't score on all possessions.
