I'm on board. 25 minutes a game

With all credit to Scott Van Pelt and Buccigross, I dub him "Johnny Good Times".

2 things stood out for me with Dawson tonight:

1. Absolutely no hesitation at all, especially in OT. I found it telling that even when he did do something slightly suspect, Buzz left him in.

2. He played excellent/non-fouling defense with 4 fouls. He attacked Starks on the defensive end in OT and got a steal/block even after Starks got by him.

He also gets the ball in the lane well which ends up leading to a better shot.  Great looking jumper and a nice drive and floater late in the half.

Can I please request an immediate and permanent moratorium on the supposed nickname, "Johnny Basketball?" It's worse than Ox.

12 points this game as our featured PG.... D Wil has 2 games all year of 12 pts or more... and I'm not one of those D Wil haters but I know a better basketball player when I see him... sure he's a frosh and will make his mistakes but the fact that these two are so close and Dawson is only a Freshman dictates you give the majority of the minutes to him.... it'll do wonders a few years from now with the type of experience he can gain right now.

Don't forget that he calmly stepped up and hit those 2 FTs in OT. Huge.

Honestly, that was the thing I was most impressed with from him today.  That is tough to do as a senior, stepping up and doing that as a freshman is impressive.

My vote is for

Awesome Dawson

I cosign. Either way--I have been very, very hesitant to put any sort of crown on Dawson this year.  That said, I came away very impressed by his performance. A few defensive lapses, but I liked that he made himself "dangerous" with pump fakes and actually making a few shots. Really opened up the inside for DeDe and Steve.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

How am I just seeing this Dr. Pepper GIF for the first time?  That is fantastic.

Yes. I've been on the bus of Derrick starting and play 25 while Dawson should play 15. Switch that around after tonight - played like a vet in the second half/OT.

Love the player.    :)

Hate the nickname.    :(
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

I'm not in love with the nickname because it isn't original, but I don't hate it, either.

I'd just like to see him earn any nickname we might give him with, I don't know, 2 consecutive good games? Maybe 3?

The steal block was huge. Along with 17 minutes with four fouls

Liked that Buzz didnt pull him after getting his fourth foul early.  Was more impressed that he didn't end up fouling out.
