Actually, recruiting is down slightly using RSCI rankings:

2013:
#30 JuJuan Johnson
#54 Deonte Burton
#59 Duane Wilson
#3 JUCO Jameel McKay
unr John Dawson

Keep in mind that all these players verballed before the league split was annouced.

2014:
#64 Ahmed Hill
#71 (2013) Luke Fischer
#82 Sandy Cohen
#97 Malek Harris
unr Marial Shayok
unr Satchel Pierce

Now, this data may not be conclusive. And I'm not going to argue there aren't other possible reasons for a decline, or that one year isn't enough data. But it does represent evidence that recruiting has taken a slight dip, making any statement that "There is no evidence" of negative impact incorrect, at least as of this point.

If this years class cannot beat the 2013 class on the floor I might as well cancel my tickets.

What does Luke Fischer's willingness to come to the new Big East prove?

He wanted to be closer to home and IU blocked a transfer to UW

I could be wrong here, but I thought he said in his press release that Crean did not block UW. I could be totally off base with that, but I thought he said that.

Not sure, actually. Fischer said early on that he would not seek a transfer to another Big 10 school. I have to wonder, though, as he had far more connectivity to UW than MU. In any event, a great get for us.

I don't understand what possible objective could be served by ripping the new Big East. Remaining in the elite Big East of old was not an option. Our choices were to remain in a conference that would soon include Tulane and will lose UConn, Cincinnati and Memphis shortly or go out on our own. Personally I think we made the right choice.

If MU were playing well right now, I don't think many people would be b*tching about the new conference.

He does, but Bucky didn't even make his final 5 out of high school. We did. It is possible that Fischer just wanted to be here at MU?

If today's game proved anything, it's that the Big East is HARDLY garbage.

It will continue to offer competitive, physical, entertaining basketball.

I LOVE the continuation of the league.

Creighton blew out Villanova. I repeat, Creighton blew out Villanova. Let that sink in fellas. This conference sucks!

Texas Western

This is a very fun and competitive league for all. The double round robin makes it very exciting. Can't wait for Butler and Georgetown to play us at the BC.
