If we do get the NIT or the CBI, we should absolutely take it. Postseason experience could be invaluable for our young guys.

But I reiterate, to talk about the CBI 5 games into the conference season is ridiculous

Is it closing time??

Saw Chucky Atkins and South Florida in the NIT under Deane. Still don't buy that the joint is nice, doe.
So, that was 1995. The arena has had upgrades since then.

For God sakes pass on the CBI if it comes to that (and it might). Not worth the bother.

Brad Stevens didn't pass on it.....so there's that.

Actually, I think the worst we do is NIT.  Still believe NCAA has a possibility, but we can't take anymore steps backward.

We won't get a home NIT game anyways with the NCAA's in MILW. Remember Kentucky...
It's not about ME,
It's about US.

Brad Stevens wasn't in a top 7 conference when he did. Pitt drew something like 1500 for a CBI game last year. Even worth the bother to turn the lights on at that point?
GO WARRIORS!

GGGG

Teams recently in the CBI:

2013: Texas, Purdue
2012: Pitt, Butler
2011: Oregon, Creighton
2010: VCU
2009: Stanford
2008: Cincinnati

Of course you play in this tournament.  The extra practice and game time would be great for especially the younger players.

Some mis-information in this thread....

We could absolutely host an NIT game at the BC. The NCAA tournament is later in the week. The Bucks are on the road. The Admirals are off.

Of course, I think going on the road is more fun anyways since the NIT sucks and there might be a school like Robert Morris that packs their joint. The BC would be a morgue. Plus, since we don't own our facility, it might make sense financially to decline the home game (as some schools do) and hit the road.

I need to modify....

We will get an NIT bid. My post was about the NIT based on the dates of the tourney...

GGGG

But I think as part of hosting, the NCAA requires no events at the BC from Tuesday onwards...and that is why they only try to host every few years.

As posted, Creighton was in the CBI in 2011.  It was a great learning experience for the players.  For some reason, during the CBI games, the offense starting clicking and we really developed an identity on offense.  McDermott was a freshman at the time but our offense has been on target since then.  Plus, we got to play a 2 of 3 series against Dana Altman and Oregon which made for good drama.

There is no reason why MU can't play at the Al.

Pitt was in the CBI two season ago. Made the ncaa's last season.

I am just hoping we win the conference tournament.

That spreadsheet hurt my eyeballs.  Ugh.  We can play at Tennessee against Maymon in round one.

By the way, San Diego State might be this year's Gonzaga.  Top 5 program?...uhm...no, yet there they are.  Will the committee give them a 1 seed?  Even a 2 seed?  Their power ranking numbers suggest a 3 or a 4, but that hasn't stopped the committee in the past.

Extra practice time could be a good thing.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
