So much for that theory.  If he can't have his way with the DePaul defense, he isn't the answer.

Meanwhile, Jake played most of the first half and did nothing

#1
Two TOs and one foul in the first two minutes of the second half for new point guard Jamil.  Ugghhh.

And Jake passing up wide-open threes. Wonderful.

Red light, green light?

And Jake finally hits...with assists from DERRICK!

Solution has been Mayo-for-Thomas.

What happened to all the Mayo haters?

As I said on the game thread, people on this board (including myself) redirect their hate towards who ever isn't playing well in today's particular game. Last game it was mostly Todd and Juan for me.

tower912

Time to start some combination of 3 guards (where was JJJ today) and Jamil and CO.    Twin towers doesn't work well, either.

This can't be serious. This isn't some middle school team. Your only 3 point threat should be shooting whenever he's comfortable and in rhythm, not worrying about if there was a paint touch yet.

Has buzz verified this rule?

Buzz said in the creighton post game that he pulled Juan early when he took an outside side before there was a paint touch

I would REALLY hope this rule doesn't apply to Jake.

Jake can't create his own shot. His #1 concern should be getting in rhythm to shoot a three, not worrying about if there's been a paint touch.

The starting lineup was awful. 2 best players out of position...DG creating from outside the 3 point line and Wilson at pg.

willie warrior

What did we have out of Jake/Derrick: 67 minutes and 8 points? Jamil Wilson with 6 TO's and several stupid fouls. Thank God that Ox carried the team today. Where will we get scoring next year--from De. Wilson?
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

I agree with tower...start mayo over Juan (go 3 guards). Hopefully he can add some offensive punch early on.

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Buzz would point out the difference between the team's 3 point shooting %'s with and without paint touch first as his justification.

I believe that even when Lazar and Jae were trailing on the break and taking threes in transition, they were getting the ball passed to them from the paint.

No they were most often from the pg who was also outside the arc.

Spaniel with a Short Tail

I dunno; I like JW at point. Thought that the feeds to DG when he was posting low (and not further out as most of the game) were coming from JW. I don't think JW should be full time at the point, but should be doing it 15-20 minutes a game.

tower912

Many of Davante's points came from getting the ball 10-15 feet from the basket and being allowed to back down a single defender.   Thanks, DePaul.

Those assists were from JW...but while DW was playing the point.  DW was bringing the ball up court, starting the offense, rotating it to JW, who then got it into Davante.  This did not happen at the beginning of the game and the start of the second half, when JW was running the point.

OK, then why hasn't DW been able to make those entry feeds? (And I'm not a hater) I'd like to see more of the offense run through JW even if DW is the nominal PG. JW and DG running the high-low is good stuff.

Get off his jock already geez...Derrick this and Derrick that, he didn't have the assist but passed it to the player who got the assist...oh and he brought the ball up lol. Look I get you like him but c'mon.

Texas Western

The solution is to give Deonte and JJJ more minutes.
