Sultan is actually more prolific than the bailbondsman.  He has 7+posts per day since 2009.  CBB has just under 7 since 2006, with a couple of timeouts.

But you have to add in CBB's multiple personalities.

Lurker of the Century award goes to Frenn's Liquor Depot, with over 128 days of time on MUScoop and only 137 posts.

MUCrisco is also pretty impressive with only 160 posts.  He registered the day MUScoop went live - October 23, 2006.  Looks like he (or she) was the second member (aside from admins/mods).

crisco is active on the scout board.  he's very good at explaining bball in layman's terms.  (high school coach maybe?)

He also cut the pony tail off of pony tail ball room dance guy in 1999 or 2000 while at Murphy's.

Just think what the state of higher education in the state of Indiana could be....

Was that the old dial up Prodigy site? Where is Harry Peck when we need him?
WS

Yup, that was the old prodigy site.  I think Harry still comes around from time to time.

He wrote this article last year on the war on drugs.

so chicos' 16,494 posts (under his actual log-in) is roughly 32% of this sites total # of posts(52,209) since 2006? Holy Cow!!

I think you might want to redo your examination.  Those are November numbers by year, not annual numbers of posts.  I suspect Scoop does something like 75,000 posts per year (just a guess) with high usage based on seasonality for some months.  If the 75K number is right, then they would have over 1/2 million posts in the last 7 years.  My numbers could be way off, but I certainly don't make 32% of the post totals or anything remotely close to that.

It may just be different internet settings on my new computer, but did MUScoop recently start selling ad hyperlinks? Also noticing pop-ups when I hadn't before...

If they are new, then it is a small price to pay for MU-based entertainment and, on rare instances, substantive basketball discussion. Thanks to the mods for their great efforts and capital outlay in keeping this site up and running. I hereby rename this thread as "The Rise and Shine of MUScoop".

BTW, anyone who can't weather a few games below preseason expectations and gets tired of the inevitable irrational bitching that follows should just go spend their time on the women's volleyball or men's soccer boards until next season. Thanks.

Hah, surprised you're the first one that's mentioned this.

For 7 years, MUScoop had banner that displayed to those that didn't log-in "please register, and log-in"...and then space to make the banner take a half page for those that chose not to log in.  Despite the annoyance, we still regularly have more "guests" that registered users on the site.  So, to add more deterrent, in late October we got rid of all the space, and added a single Google Adsense ad on every page, for guests only.

It apparently hasn't convinced more people to log in (we still usually have more guests), but at least it does bring in some cash from those that only lurk as guests.  For those that login, they don't see ads at all.  But those that login provide all the content that draws people to the site, so it seems like a fair tradeoff to me.

As for popups, I don't know.  I never see the ads, but glad you logged in to comment on it :)
(if you still see them after logging in, let me know, that shouldn't happen)

Rocky, do guests get counted in the Views totals for a post?

Great idea and well played rocky.  I didn't even know about the Google ad.  Wow, we're all forcing lurking guests to 'pay' for our scintillating banter.

Some of us go back to this about Marquette

That's pretty classy... Prodigy for Windows 95.

I had to slum around with this:

I still remember my ID... even though I was the "primary" (read: only) user in my household, I used an 'E' account as my main (mostly because I had to setup the 'A' account under my mom's name since I was under 18 at the time).

One day - strictly because I was bored - I decided to advertise the recently-formed (but not by me) "Cat Haters Club" on the "Cat Lovers Club" bulletin board, which promptly flooded the inbox on the 'A' account with messages from crazy-cat-ladies and middle-aged housewives (thinking they were talking to my parents) ranting about "do you know what your child is doing," "your son should be reported to the police," and the like (even though I never actually posted on the hater's board).  I think at most one lady messaged a dozen times just in one day... as I recall, you got 30 messages a month and then each message was $0.25 per beyond that.  Suffice to say, I earned Prodigy a few bucks back in the day.
