Worst pre-conference record since 2000-01

Who may I ask was the coach of that team?

Tom Crean...in his second year as a head coach and second year at MU...one season removed from a NIT team and two seasons removed from a team that made no tournament.

Little different scenario now

Wasn't intended as a knock on Crean at all. Just pointing it out because a buddy of mine who's a UL fan asked me, and figured there was probably someone on here who was wondering when was the last time MU's record was this poor in the pre-conference play.

Crean was in his 2nd year of trying to fix the wreckage of the end of the Deane era. Final 3 years of Deane era - lucky to make tourney by winning 4 in a row at CUSA tourney in St. Louis, NIT, 14-15. I just thought of this comparison, but Mike Deane was basically Seth Greenberg 15 years earlier. Not Crean's fault at all. Actually watching Wardle in his senior year was kind of fun that year. Kind of recall hearing the reports of what Wade was doing in practice was about the #2 highlight of that season.
GO WARRIORS!
