Brewcity is just stating that he finds Alexxx to be "hot".

Greenwood (uhh) wasn't a big part of their offense.. and only a 33.7% career 3FG shooter (although that % equals lights out for MU).

I feel that we will win.

I was listening to local sports talk in Vegas yesterday.  They mentioned that Greenwood was out for the New Mexico State game at the Pit that New Mexico lost.  He has a wrist injury.  Their new coach, Craig Neal, is taking a lot of crap.  A writer had to research first year New Mexico head coaches and tell the faithful that only one coach in his first year had ever swept the series with New Mexico State.  Fans can be a little insane!

I listened to coach Neal on his radio show from some sports bar in Albuquerque.  They just touched on the MU game briefly.  He said that MU was a tough, physical team that plays hard, never gives an inch, was typical of BE basketball and that the Lobos would have to play their best to win.  He compared Marquette's physicality to Cincinnati's.  New Mexico beat Cincinnati on 12/7/13 at the Pit 63-54.

My wife and I will be there Saturday and I think we will win!  Go Warriors!

Greenwood being out is a huge blow to New Mexico. Not so much because he was such a vital piece, but because without him, their lack of depth is exposed.

UNM lives and dies by their three headed monster of Williams, Bairstow, and Kirk. Everyone around them is basically a warm body. Did you know that in 10 games, a Lobo outside of the big three has scored in double digits only 5 times (2 times by Thomas and 3 times by Neal)? So with 11 other guys on the team, and 10 total games that means in 110 opportunities, a non-big three lobo has scored double digits only 5 times. 5 times out of 110. All 5 were against cupcakes btw.

With Greenwood out, it forces the coaches son Cullen Neal to play the point, not his natural position. He is already committing nearly three TOs a game in under 20 minutes a game. Imagine how many he will commit against an elite defense, while playing out of position for extended minutes. With Neal not being as good as Greenwood, the big 3 will suffer as well.

This also means that the starting off guard, Cleveland Thomas, will have to play extended minutes because he doesn't have Neal to spell him. Thomas makes our Thomas look like a stud, averaging 4.4 ppg, and shooting a whooping 7/22 on 3PA. Oh and BTW, he broke his nose last Monday and will be playing with a mask. No way that doesn't effect his game.

Finally, it shortens the bench significantly. Neal used to be a pretty respectable sixth man, but with him starting that leaves Deshawn Delaney as the first guy off the bench. He got 20 minutes against NMSU on Tuesday and managed 2 points and 2 boards...that's it. There will only be four men on their bench who have seen playing time in most of the Lobos' games. The most any of them is scoring is 2.3 ppg.

Honestly, I feel like if we can just shut down one of the big three, we win this game. Two players is not enough to beat us and with Greenwood out, there really isn't enough left around the two to support them.

I smell our second quality win. (I think George Washington ends up being quality by the end of the season)

Exactly right. I have no idea if Kirk will be looking to transfer, but if he was, he would be the perfect bridge to allow Pierce to develop and hopefully land Stone in 2015.

He's a career 27% shooter from three. Has never hit more than 13 in a season but he is already 8/30 on the year. Not great but you need to respect the shot

Totally agree. They have wins over Miami, Rutgers, Maryland and Creighton--most of those coming away from home. Certainly not a rock-solid array of wins, but wins over legit DI opponents nonetheless especially Maryland and Creighton.  Consider me an honorary Colonial for the 2014 GW campaign.

He nailed a buzzer 3 at the end of regulation to tie up UAB in their holiday tourney earlier this year.  Blazers pretty much left him unguarded, and he made them pay.

As an aside, I pulled up a recap of that Alabama game and I had completely forgotten about the "bomb scare" that delayed the game by 70 minutes.

Pat Connaughton as a freshman in 2012 was nowhere near the established player he has become for Notre Dame. He was averaging 4 points over his previous 14 games and was firing bricks from 3-point range. Then he torched us for 23 points on 9-12 shooting (5-8 from 3) and 11 rebounds.
