Notre Dame v Indiana this Saturday
« on: December 12, 2013, 09:39:32 PM »
Other than both teams being DQ'd, what is the desired outcome? For me, Mike Brey is a class act and Tom Crean is an oversized oompa loompa, so i would be ok with Notre Dame winning. I feel sick to my stomach.

Kinda like having to pick between the plague v. Cholera.  Pol Pot v Heinrich Himmler.  Bears v. Cowboys.  Digger v. Osama Bin Laden.  Food poisoning v. flu.  Getting your eyeballs ripped out v. being set on fire.

One of my favorite TC victories was MU over ND in the Garden in the BET in 2008.  Nothing beats winning at night, in NYC, in March.

It's so hard to pick, seeing as Notre Dame is one of our biggest rivals and Indiana is also one of our biggest rivals.

Hard to have a team as a rival if you don't play them.

Ask Mike Brey why Notre Dame isn't playing Marquette.

For what its worth, we ran 1,750 game simulations and we have Notre Dame losing by about 9 and have only a 26.4% probability of winning.

Tom wins these types of games.  Save for competing against Bo Ryan, he was very good in Nov / Dec marquee games at MU.

FTFY. It's two things MU fans love to hate. I don't know why you keep having a problem understanding this. The topic of Indiana isn't about the school or the team, it's about the coach.

And, while I'm here.. superbar

My second-favorite team is whoever plays Notre Dame, so I'll somewhat reluctantly pull for Indiana.

Notre Dame became even more hate-able when wussy Brey refused to set up a non-conference series with us. He might be a class act, as others have claimed, but there's a chicken hiding under that turtleneck.

Oh I get it.  It's why we always cheered against Northwestern, Tennessee, Utah, Ball State, Wagner, etc

Hopefully teal wasn't needed

That's because no matter how hard you kick, scream, whine, stomp your feet and say "It's not fair" the Marquette fan base doesn't share your opinion that if you despise Tom Crean you MUST despise Kevin O'Neill and Rick Majerus.

I have always cheered against Wagner.  I prefer Bach.

Excellent Hitler reference - completely true.  Not sure how Hitler felt about Tennessee.

No. You don't. It's about Tom Crean. Not all our former coaches. I feel like you're being intentionally obtuse about this. Yes, it might not make logical sense. Yes, it might be hypocritical or whatever. But it's just how some people are. They love to hate Tom Crean. And they don't have the same feelings about any of our other former staff. It's just the way it is.

Well, yes he was.

I try not to use the word "hate," but I strongly disliked Bobby Knight, so I have rooted against Indiana for decades. (And rooted against Texas Tech after that!) The fact that Crean is there now makes it easier to continue doing so.

Having said that, I'll take Mr. "It's Indiana!" over Notre Dame every time.

Some of you need to check in your Marquette diplomas or MU fan cards.
