Yep, the X is a "shortcut" for the Chi-Rho symbol, a combination of the Greek letters for "Christ".   The X has a probably unintentional resemblance to a cross.  The Chi-Rho symbol meant "good" in Pagan Greek before Christianity, and was considered a "heavenly divine symbol" by Constantine.  So, next time somebody claims the X in X-Mas is a sacrilege, you can share the rich history behind its usage.

I'm glad ESPN did this. I am Catholic, but I don't need to see these ads when I'm watching college basketball. Or anything else on TV for that matter.

The Catholic organization would be better off following the Pope's example and giving their money to charity, rather than trying to run some right-wing political War on Christmas TV campaign.

ESPN is a private entity and can run or refuse to run any spots they want.

If you don't care for how they operate, quit watching. If enough people quit watching, ESPN will change how they do business.
