I mentioned this in a previous thread, but at time programs suffer and have off years.  MU has had many successful seasons in past years and the fan base is not used to what is occurring at the present time.  MU is now 5-4 for the year, losing to all the quality teams it has faced.  With three more "easy" teams coming to town and a real tough test with New Mexico, it probably looks like a 8-5 start to the BE season.  With it's offensive woes continuing, it might just be a 500 season in the BE and the expectations those thought to be high, may just not happen.

This year has been rocky to start and with a starting backcourt that does not produce anything (today 1 for 6 from field, 3 points and 2 assists), every game, to include the Depauls of the world might be a struggle.  Many have the MU Blue/Gold goggles on with the Derrick Wilson issue, and it has been discussed to death, but the bottomline is the stats/record back up the case in which he is in reality a backup point guard with very limited offensive skills.  I said in the summer threads that the D. Will issue would be the most talked about subject matter and I can at least say I was right on that. Buzz and the staff believe in him as of now and maybe that will change, so we will see.  As for Jake, another discussed to death, but he is a walkon and you have a Top 50 recruit on his heels.  I would be shocked if we don't see a change real soon. But the staff has surprised everyone so far this year.

The other surprise to me is Steve Taylor, who may thought he would be the most improved player on the team and be a starter.  I have no clue as to what is going on with the young fella and don't even want to speculate, others can do that.  This year keep rooting for the guys, even though it could be a long season not meeting anyone's expectations, probably including the staff's.

Next year, MU loses J. Wilson, Gardner, Otule, Thomas and if I was a betting man, Mayo.  With Anderson under performing, Taylor who knows what, Pierce being a probable work in progress, no center, it could be even worse.  But, the expectations will not be as high as those of this year.  Wisconsin was a good team and MU actually beat the spread.  Lets hope some changes are made, whether they are major or minor, to get the  team going again offensively, but keep on cheering the guys on.  Sometimes bad season just happen.

How dare you say De Wilson and Jake are not a high major D1 back court?

How dare you say next year could be even worse?

Yeah, I know, some might disagree, but even in the bad times, I will cheer the boys on.

The only good thing about players we are losing for next year (aside from Thomas) is that maybe Diamond Stone will see ample playing time, and commit. We will be really hurting down low next year, unless Pierce drastically outperforms. Losing McKay also was a killer for next year. Buzz's inability to recruit quality bigs will likely create a small ball team next year.

I was thinking exactly the same thing myself as I watched the game today. 75% of Marquette's scoring today leaves after this season.

75% of a team that scores 54?     ouch...

That is why I have been advocating an overseas trip next summer.   The returnees and the new guys are going to need the extra time to get up to speed.

I advocate Buzz hit the JUCO and find another Jae Crowder or Jimmy Butler because we will need someone upfront. We will not get buy with a Frosh center 40 minutes a game.

Diamond Stone is going to get ample playing time no matter where he goes.

Is this even a feasible option anymore?

Maybe this team is missing that JUCO grit, fire, starving pitbull mentality that JUCO's under Buzz have brought.

So you're suggesting Buzz go find a guy with NBA talent? You might want to tweet that at him, just in case he hasn't thought of it.

Goose

We had a JUCO and told him minutes would be limited at best. After watching last few weeks the kid had to really be lacking skill to be told limited minutes coming his way in October.

C'mon.  Its not that bad.  We scored 64.

On the other hand, it was technically 77% of the scoring today that won't be back next year.

I hope it's not "Wait Till Next Year" already.

Likely true. Just want it to happen with MU.

Why?  All you'll do is come on here and bitch about him after every sub-par game.

That one is a real head scratcher. I wonder if there is more to that story..

It was not even a sub par game.  We played without our Badger Killer (Mayo) and were a poor 1.5 minutes (beginning of 2nd half) from stealing this one.  And even after only hitting 1 three pointer we were within striking distance.
I believe we shot 43 percent which is not terrible against the Badgers.

Yeah, and the way we have been playing that gives plenty of bitch opportunities. By the way, feel free to use the ignore button. And of course, criticism in your mind is bitching.
