Am I crazy or did I watch a different game then everyone else.  Yes Burton was good, but completely lost on defense and Juan had a good game.  He didn't have the stats, but defensively was great and Juan was the only one attacking the basket early in the game and had strong rebounding as well.  I think Juan will still surprise some people this season.

You are correct.

I actually really like Burton a lot... but with Frosh., it TAKES TIME.

Some people see 1 or 2 good minutes, and then anoint that player better than the player in front of him.

People should stop doing that. Buzz sees these guys EVERYDAY. He's knows what he's doing.

I can't wait until the current Frosh. class are Juniors and Seniors so nobody will want them to play anymore.

Burton looks like a future stud. The key to that is future. He's earning minutes by playing incredibly hard and demonstrating a fearless mentality. If he continues to progress, I think we have a potential four-year Jae Crowder on our hands. But he's not there yet. Juan, like Jake before tonight, is a guy who gets the system, knows what to do, but his shot isn't always falling. Doesn't mean he isn't still contributing and functioning well within the concept of the team, but for some people, if you're not scoring, you're not showing up.

Deonte Burton looks to score, has an outside shot, can create his own shot, and is more athletic than Juan Anderson. He also drives to the basket and looks for contact instead of throwing up a goofy shot. He looked like a impact player against Grambling. This team needs more multi threat athletes that can create offense and also create easy shots off forced turnovers.

Juan is a good defensive rebounder and that is it.....any one who says otherwise is being dishonest and stubborn.

Burton struggles on the defensive end.

By the way, that ASU crowd was constantly buzzing. Great atmosphere, which made the comeback all the more impressive. A good experience going forward.

My biggest problem with Buzz was the timeout with around 27 seconds to go to set up the last play.  I'd rather they just played on at that point and saved the last time out, which would have come in handy.  After that time out, we wasted a lot of time and then had Thomas take a long two while moving in the wrong direction (much tougher for a righty to shoot moving left to right than right to left).  So we used up our last time out and didn't run a good play and didn't get the ball to Gardner.  All in all, not good. 

But there were a lot of positives last night.  Primarily DeWilson playing with aggression on the offensive end and the team grinding it out ofter a terrible start.

Players still have to execute. I will guarantee that the play after the timeout was not executed 100% as planned. The screen wasn't great, and I don't think Jake came off the screen correctly. In hindsight it is easy to say that the timeout wasn't necessary because the play didn't work, but there is no way to determine what would have happened if they just played on. What if they ran the time all the way down, still got a bad look, then failed to foul?

Also, I don't think you can definitively say that the play after the timeout should have run through Gardner. Jake had the hot hand, and the pick and pop was effective throughout the 2nd half.
