Tough loss, but Jamil needs to look in the mirror and say enough is enough.  He went 5 for 15, and missed his last five shots coming back off the bench with like three minutes to go.  Foul trouble all game.

This team needs him and if his play stays like this, it may be a long season.

I thought he looked good.  Played his ass off.  Still committing stupid fouls, but I love the guy.  I think the team fed off of him today.

There's no question he is the key this year. If he plays consistently well, it'll be another fun year. If he is as up and down as he was tonight (so far this year), it'll probably be a struggle. For the record, my money's on the former.

This is WAY off base

He did not look good, and did not play his ass off. 5-15 shooting, some stupid fouls, and 0-4 in the last two minutes. Nuff said
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

MU cannot rely on Jamil to carry the team - if we do we will lose a lot of games. Jamil has not shown the personality or decision making to be the team leader. Buzz has to find someone else, especially for the games Jamil will disappear in.

JakeBarnes

Totally agree. I mean, he was on the bench for the last play of the game! Some leader! Rabblerabblerabblerabble
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Jamil is what kept the game reachable at the start. He did not finish well down the stretch but he had a great game. The is learning to be the leader we need. Tonight, he looked like he can fill the role. Derrick Wilson also played extremely well and looks like he can be a secondary leader.

Well call me crazy, but Derrick looked more of a leader tonight than Jamil did.

Jamil is  going to have a huge year.

Having a good game does not make you a leader.  I'll leave it at that.  Jamil was Buzz on the court.

chapman

Was actually especially pleased with Davante.  Didn't get frustrated, played with maturity, pulled down a ton of big boards at the end.

Jamil was not Buzz on the court, had 3 dumb, unnecessary fouls that ended limiting his play. As for Derrick it was not just playing a good game. He played the PG as a leader penetrating, making shots and changing the game until our outside shots started to fall. Was not afraid to take over.

Jamil is a Senior leader, he's just not the leader many want him to be. That's unfair IMO. He is a good player, a good guy, and a good leader, but he isn't going to put the team on his back and carry them to victory. That's just not who he is. If any of us can't accept that, then that's our problem not his.

Wee Willie is on board with the Jamil bashing.  'Nuff said.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

You may not have known that he fouled out of the game.

If you were really paying attention, he was telling the younger players where to be, and what to do.  Like I said, it is more than performance.  It is more than staying out of foul trouble.  His stats don't display what he did tonight.

Do not disagree with most of what you say, but to be a leader on a team you must be willing to carry the team on your back and carry them to victory or defeat. But you must be the guy and take the good with the bad. Nothing against Jamil, really like him as a person from what I can see. But not a team leader.

Jamil was fine. played a pretty steady game and was called on at times  to guard the big commie besides score.  Had they not shot lights out the whole game we would have won. I am proud of the composure and the way we played, Hope a lot of ASU people gave the points and lost money.

Not only Jamil, but Davante, Derrick, and even Thomas did it. Buzz knew that without Mayo, freshmen would play more minutes and probably told the upper classmen to be vocal with them.

They didn't really shoot the lights out the whole game.  They shot the lights out in the beginning, but after that pretty standard stuff.  If OSU played their normal game a couple weeks ago, we would have lost by 30 or 40.  We're still not a very good team.  We needed some lights out shooting to get back in the game and some lucky breaks, and we still failed to execute down the stretch.  Just telling it like it is.
