It occurred to me that this is really the first year Buzz hasn't had a transfer with experience to help make an impact.  When losing our top guy, we always had someone waiting.  For a number of years it was another junior college star to take on a major role.  From Butler and Buycks to DJO and Crowder, we found a lot of success with the JUCO players.  Last year was a bit different with Lockett, but still a similar case.  Whether Jameel McKay would have made a big difference or not, who knows.  He's gone.  Vander's gone.  Buzz and co. had a knack for finding the junior college players that were not only talented, but also had that chip on their shoulder.  They wanted to work extremely hard every day and it showed.

While I don't doubt for a second that we are getting the right high school guys, if Buzz doesn't go the juco route as much I think we will have these growing pains.  A lot of our talent and potential is still very young and inexperienced.  I suppose as fans we need to exercise patience since this roster is different.  And we have some old guys but let's be real, Jake and Chris are what they are.  Jamil is not the x-factor right now and that leaves us with Davante as the only true senior that I feel may step up as the leader.  Hopefully Jamil proves me wrong as the season progresses.  Without our prototypical strong-willed, competitive Juco transfer, we're a bit lost.  We need someone with an edge that can light a fire under his teammates.  I know it's only three games in and it will become clearer as we progress.  So, do you guys think Buzz should keep scouring the juco ranks, or ultimately get the best talent he can from high school?

Jae, DJO and Jimmy were great for the program because they were very good basketball players.  They had an edge and were strong willed, but that isn't necessarily because they were Juco transfers.

Just recruit the best talent that you can to win ball games.  It doesn't matter where it is from.

Agreed on that.  It just seems like a common trend (for MU).  The junior college route helped them prepare and work even harder to work their way up to division 1.  I know there is a lot that factors in.  I am just interested to see how Buzz recruits for the next few classes after 2014 now that he has been able to get plenty of highly ranked high school players as well.

I married a traditional JUCO, so I hope so.

The following is an admittedly insane rant that I do not in any way believe........

This is all Larry's fault.   If he had just not messed with happy and let Buzz continue to recruit any and all JUCO's, instead sticking him with the inferior 4 year player, then MU would have smoked tOSU with a collection of hardscrabble guys with chips on their shoulders who appreciate where they are.    I heard Buzz had a screaming match with the AD blaming him for this year's team and that he has already told Texas he's coming.    Thanks, Larry.

Buzz needs to camp out on Josh Gray's doorstep, is that within the rules? :)
