Can someone please explain to me why Jake Thomas plays (or starts for that matter)? I find him to be terrible.

Well he has drawn the attention of Ohio States best defender (Craft) and has defended him extremely well.  So Ohio State thinks he is a threat and he has been a great defender.

Agree, not his fault, but it was clear from day one from Buzz that Derrick is the starting point guard.  His choice of starting point guard is playing, not hurt.
