I just looked ahead to the next game and saw Grambling was 0-28 last year. Unless they recruited really well MU cannot look good in this one win or lose.

Why even schedule a game like this, especially before a juggernaut like tOSU?

Anyone know how far in advance these get scheduled? One thing that I think we've done pretty well lately is making our cupcakes non-RPI killers. Getting cupcakes in the 150-200 range can be a decent boost. I have to think that they were scheduled before they had such a terrible season.

I wonder if Buzz has a connection to a coach or something.

chapman

0-28 and not a single game decided by single digits.  A really poor scheduling choice.  I'm sure they came dirt cheap, but just go ahead and put a DII team on the schedule who will not cost more, will give a better game, and won't count against the RPI like playing team 342 of 342 in DI will.

source?

Considering the game against Southern, we could probably use a cupcake to figure a few things out.

Unless we plan on being on the bubble I don't think it really matters much.

I think Southern is a decent team. Almost beat Gonzaga. Grambling could probably beat my high school team by 15

Someone ring up KW and clue him on the significance of this game on tourney seedin'.

I do agree that this game is a head scratcher for non-conference schedule purposes, but...Do we make up for that by having Ohio State, Wisconsin, New Mexico, ASU, and the tournament on our non-conference schedule?

You mean they are not evil and don't need to be destroyed?

raul

Maybe D. Wilson can have a breakout game and score 5 points.

I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

If you go to Simeon, Monteverde, Oak Hill, Lone Peak, or Findlay Prep, that's a compliment!

Hah, shows how much you know.  There are now actually 351 teams in Division I.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

It doesn't mater whether they are evil because they have already been destroyed.

If you want RPI boosting cupcakes, you want teams from the MAC, CAA, Ivy, Horizon, C-USA, Big West, and Summit. Even the bottom teams in those leagues won't be an RPI drain. The top team in the SWAC ain't gonna do too much, because the rest of the conference is garbage. You can do bottom of WCC, MWC, and MVC, but thats harder to predict a garaunteed win from years away. Also, this assumes those teams will accept a buy game. So I guess what I'm saying is scheduling is hard?

I will laugh at the panic if we "only" beat Grambling by 20-30 points.

It will be great. I doubt it, but some people still don't get hoe Buzz coaches these games.

In Louisville's opener over a cupcake, Pitino only played 7 players for the entire game until the last minute. That will never happen in an early season game under Buzz - even against a "great" team like tOSU

bilsu

I thought we had some interst in him. Hamilton (big center) had a double double 16 pts 11 rbs.

We were in early. Hamilton had an odd HS career. He was top-100 early, then his play fell off as he got fat. He left Chicago and turned things around. Most of the programs that were in on him early dropped out of the recruitment between the weight gain and the transfer. DePaul was one of the few high-majors that stuck around. If he reaches the potential many thought he had as a freshman/sophomore in high school, Purnell may have nabbed a real steal.

tower912

I predict that Gardner, Otule, and JWilson play no more than 18 minutes each. DeWilson and Todd play about 22 each.    I predict that Buzz lets the others get as much run as possible, mixing and matching combinations, letting Juan, STjr, Deonte get the big minutes up front.   Dawson, JJJ, and Jake play big minutes in the backcourt.    MU wins only by 20.      Nattering nabobs of negativism come out of the woodwork.
