How long will JaJuan be at Marquette?

One and done
Two and through
Three and free
Four year stalwart
The Otule plan

Paint Touches has gotten me excited about Mr. Johnson, and has left me wondering how long he'll stay before going to the NBA.

My personal opinion?  Two years.

What do you think?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

GGGG

Four years.  I don't get excited about rookies until I see them on the court.

BCHoopster

This is a ridiculous post, the kid has not played one game yet, nor score a basket.  Maybe in a year this could be asked.

JamilJaeJamailJrJuan

There is no way to possibly know, but I'd be pretty concerned about next year if he leaves after one year.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

TJ

4 years and I'm not sure why someone would ask the question at this point...

Why?
For the 2/3 we would have returning Anderson, Mayo, Burton and Duane Wilson. We have coming in Hill, Shayok, Cohen and Harris. Our issues will be at the power positions, whether JJJ stays or not.

I'd even settle for January.

I'm with BC on this one.  Heck, a previous thread had him as the third shooting guard behind Mayo and a walk-on at the start of the season.  Maybe if his position stays that way (doubt), he leaves because of playing time.

Plus, three and 1/2 days til the Southern game, and we've already blown through the Southern alumni thread.  I thought this better than revisiting the what constitutes an alum topic.

actually my vote of 3 and through wasn't because he was so valued, but was more of a Vander Blue (done with school/time to get paid) type of move.  His best route at this point in time is to play 4 years and work his ass off.  Only then can we vote on his salability.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Three years...or what I call the Vander Blue plan.

In addition, not sure why so many people are upset about this being posted. Reggie Rankin and Dave Telep both labeled JJJ as a possible one and done. He is a top 30 recruit coming out of high school and the highest rated recruit that Marquette has gotten in over 20 years. There is reason to be excited. Yes, he is a freshman. Yes, he could flop. But I think it's ok to be optimistic. Unheard of on scoop I know

Vander had a plan?

Vander had a plan?

He did.  A horrible one.  He said since his freshman year that he wanted to leave early.  If I have time I'll find the article later, but I remember reading it and he wanted to leave after his sophomore year.  That's why JJJ won't follow his plan.  JJJ has no expectations and has said as much.  He's not like McKay who expects the minutes.  Everything Buzz has said is that he just shows up and does the work.  He doesn't complain, he doesn't put his hands on his knees, he just works.  If JJJ leaves after 3 years, it's because he got good information that he'll be drafted in the 1st round and make some big bucks.  If he doesn't, he'll come back for a fourth and work his butt off.  Very different from Vander who had it in his head coming in that he would be leaving early.

The best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores.

Yep. Everyone that knew him well knew that he wouldn't stay for his Senior year. He was pretty open about wanting to go pro no matter what. He was convinced that it was the right time for him to explore other options than playing bball for free.

Do you actually know these kids, or is this just based off of stuff you read?

Why isn't there an option to vote "end of first semester"?

If we're no longer allowed to make large assumptions about people's character based on what we've read on the internet, then we better just shut Scoop down right now.

WarriorFan

Like any intelligent young man who understands the value of a Marquette degree and education he'll stay for 4 years and graduate.  Let's call this the Junior Cadougan plan.

And probably the internet while we're at it.

At this point, could be one year, could be six years (on the O'tule plan).  Getting to the NBA is a challenging goal, every class there are players in the top 10 or top 20 that never make it to the NBA.  JJJ is suppose to be a great prospect, but he is exactly that a prospect.

What we can hope for is that Buzz and JJJ stay on the same page and when it comes time for him to make a decision, he will work closely with his coach to do what is best for him and his career.

If I guessed 1 year (I didn't) and he transfers to Grambling after the season, do I win!?!

WarriorFan

After a small sample of two games I have to say that he is the worst freshman on the team.  Mostly because his defense is obviously poor but also because he can't make an impact on offence and probably won't until he fixes his shot.

Goose

While not off to great start I think he is unreal upside potential. I would be very surprised if he was not a major part of teams success this year. He appears to be pressing and hopefully gets over that soon. We need him on Saturday to play big and I expect that to happen.
