I follow Mizzou some, and yesterday they lost out on Devin Booker (son of Mizzou's Melvin Booker) yesterday who committed to Kentucky. Now their message boards are saying that they think its a full court press to get Ahmed Hill to flip to them. They state reasons like he had said in the past he'd like to play with current Mizzou commit Jakeenan Gant, and that if they can get him to visit, they think they can get him to flip.

Personally, I think Miz just put all of their eggs in the Booker basket and are now scrambling to try to replace his spot. Is there any concern on Marquette's side that he may keep looking now or is he pretty rock solid? Would love to watch him play every week in the BC!

Verbal commitments are worth the paper they are written on.  Deeply skeptical, but anything is possible.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

He's signing in 12 days, doubt they're going to manage it.  Though I suppose harassing someone verbally committed to another school is far down Frank Haith's list of ethical transgressions.

Their fans are certainly going all in on Twitter (creepily), which was being encouraged on their board.

I think Chicos needs to go over there and regulate.
Relax. Respect the Process.

Yup.  It's fun watching 40+ year olds grovel and beg in the digital world.  It's also creepy and pathetic....and against NCAA rules.

Agreed, but the NCAA doesn't follow its own rules...so theres that

you fail to mention that your described " full court press to get Ahmed Hill to flip to them."

is really a message board discussing starting a twitter mob to convince him to come to Mizzou..

not too worried about that...

Wow. I don't think I have ever seen this big of a twitter surge for an already committed player. Kind of disgusting.

No chance he flips. Ahmed is going to be in Blue and Gold come next Fall and will be pushing Mayo and JJJ for the starting job.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Wow, that made my eyes hurt.

The absolute worst major message board for ANY sports team/program/etc I've ever seen. It really is embarrassing, like, do they really enjoy it?

True, its just fans venting on losing out on a highly ranked legacy, but I know it seemed like Missouri was in the running for Hill. Mizzou fans go through the 7 stages of grieving quickly, it was all Booker for weeks, and now that they missed out, they think they can just talk about Hill and that will spurn him to switch. I just wondered if Haith may make one last push to get Hill to visit or something.

So do we not get a homo board because MU is Catholic?  Uh...because...a friend wants to know.

I know very little about Mizzou basketball, but it seems the Wright commitment had a bigger impact on Hill's recruitment than Booker.  I would also expect Haith (and every other coach for that matter) to spend the little time he has left before the signing period on other recruits that haven't pledged to play at other schools.

At first, I thought Scoop was the homo board.  Then I thought Mizzou must have another message board where the threads that are much cleaner and better organized given that the homos are running it.

Mizzou's pitch: "Now that we missed out on who we really wanted, we realize how awesome you are!"

Good luck with that, Zou.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

A few thoughts on my mind...

1. Hill committed after madness.  Gant could have convinced him long ago to go to Missouri and was unsuccessful.  He took his time and here we are a week+ away from national signing day?  I can't see much changing in a short amount of time IMO
2. Social Media...everyone is a booster, can't be enforced by NCAA.
3. I would hope a twitter campaign has zero influence on a player's decision

But overall I feel bad what recruits go through in today's era.  The amount of stuff sent there way via social media good and bad.  I believe the ugly side of college recruiting article was mentioned on Scoop...Diamond Stone being called and such.  Sad to think about the amount of tainting that occurs.

Regardless of what Hill decides...if I were a college recruit, I would be skeptical of a coach who just got slapped with an NCAA suspension.

Buzz has mentioned in passing in the past that the glorification of players via social media before they even arrive on campus is something of a wall that he has to break through.

I think if the NCAA really wanted to, you could.   It would violate someone's rights probably, but you could say if you wish to be considered a D1 recruit, you have to turn off the functionality to accept tweets, new friends (Facebook), etc.  There is no way you can enforce what all these idiots do in terms of begging and slathering over a 17 year old, too many weirdos out there.  However, you can control (or attempt to control) the recipients of the pleas.  As I mentioned earlier, the NCAA is going to have to address it at some point.  I can put money via paypal or other source into someone's account at any time with very little information.  What starts as "oh please Johnny Junior, come play for my school" becomes "Johnny Jr., check your account and I'll get 500 other people to throw in $20 or $50....just because we love you"
