...Bob Dukiet was fired by Marquette! It's annual +7 months Free From Dukiet Day, hereafter known as +7FFDD. Let's have a big discussion about it!

Why stop there, Brew?

~3 billion years ago, the first single celled organisms were
forming in Earth's primordial ooze, giving rise to everything.

That was a terrible hire in large part due to timing.  Hank probably should have returned as interim coach with an ensuing search for the next spring.  That was one rumored option at that time.  In the meantime, the Minutemen events were entertaining with the Piano man's ability to tickle the ivory.

Set the program back because of when Rick quit...in July....no one good left to hire, and the domino effect went from there.

I can't help but feel Majerus' resignation was somehow the fault of Tom Crean.

Yeah, but if Rick didn't quit there's no Bob Dukiet. No Dukiet, no KO, no Deane, no Crean, no Buzz, no Big East title. Thanks, Rick.

George W. Bush is the real culprit...when in doubt, throw that card out....or race.  Both are in vogue and considered legitimate answers to most questions of the day.

What about Alger Hiss and the Rosenbergs?

No KO, no Deane, No Crean, No Buzz.....wait, take that back...Buzz still would have made it here.  It was destiny.

Well, let's take this to an extreme. If Quentin Quade had stayed quiet and not been a nitpicker on expenses, maybe Al never would have left. No Al leaving and no Miami of Ohio debacle. No Al leaving and maybe the 1980s might have been as good as the 1970s!

If Father DeUllio had listened rather than spoke, we'd still be the Warriors and maybe Wisconsin Avenue would be closed between 11th and 16th Streets. And maybe we would have had a great basketball team because we would not have hired Deane. And, we'd have one less thing to troll about on these boards.

Cheeks is about to hit a magical number of posts in The Al of 15,500...but in reality, he has 19,385 posts counting the Superbar.  If you divide this number by pi, an irrational number that defines a circle, you get 6190.  Not coincidentally, this post number of his from March 14, 2011 is in defense of CTC with others. This proves beyond a doubt that a circle jerk can be mathematically defined.

What about the Earth's primordial ooze, doesn't that deserve some thanks as well?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I was a relatively recent (short elevator ride with Coach M. on graduation weekend in '83, shortly after taking the job) grad and busy overseas when he left. Was it simply the NBA offer or was there more to it?

A lot of boosters were putting pressure on MU to force him out.  So when Don Nelson threw him a line, he grabbed it.

I heard multiple rumors his mouth got him in trouble with school administration.

Archie - by multiple rumors do you mean 2 or more than 2? Thanks, just curious.

The definition is the same, either way.  2 or more than 2 are multiple

Never mind, they're both evil.

Jessie Helms hated them both but hatred turned venomous towards the Endowment once crucifixes began turning up in glasses of urine. I am not a fan of Helms but on this I am in complete agreement. There is art and there is rubbish and Andrew Serrano's photograph is offensive with no possible merit. How any contemplative, thoughtful person can consider Serrano's work as anything but reprehensible garbage is beyond me. Expression can be used to shock sensibilities but there is nothing intellectually or emotionally redeeming in "Piss Christ."  The fact that the NEA sponsored it is tragic.
