The story is about Duke being the first college to use player tracking technology, but as you see in the tweets below Marquette is using it as well.

Duke is the first college basketball team to get player-tracking technology. @bzcohen has the scoop: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304520704579127281774259324.html ...

#mubb as well.  Can call us co-first.  Process started over summer. @Bachscore: Duke first college team to get player-tracking technology.

My guess is that Marquette is paying some money to the NBA/Bucks/Bradley Center to use the new tracking equipment that is being installed in every NBA arena.  Clearly a benefit of playing on an NBA Arena...

Interesting Wall Street Journal article about Duke acquiring the SportVU system used by NBA teams (oh and Marquette).  Shows another benefit to keeping the Bucks in town and to having MU play in an NBA arena.

"Another team that stands to benefit this season from SportVU is Marquette, whose coach Buzz Williams values advanced statistics as much as anyone in college basketball. Marquette shares with the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks the BMO Harris Bradley Center, where the infrastructure existed, so the Golden Eagles will see SportVU data for its 16 home games. "Knowing our coach, two minutes into their presentation, we knew it was something he'd want to pursue," said Marquette deputy athletic director Mike Broeker."

Not sure that using SportVU during practice is going to return an applicable set of data, but go for it, Dook.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

One of things measured is friendly touches. So, they can see when people high five teammates.

The subheadline is the key here:
"Cameron Indoor Will Be the First College Arena Equipped With SportVU, a Statistical Movement System Used in NBA"
I'm like a turtle, sometimes I get run over by a semi.

Yup--the article actually talks about MU and using the existing infrastructure:

QuoteAnother team that stands to benefit this season from SportVU is Marquette, whose coach Buzz Williams values advanced statistics as much as anyone in college basketball. Marquette shares with the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks the BMO Harris Bradley Center, where the infrastructure existed, so the Golden Eagles will see SportVU data for its 16 home games. Disclaimer: I work for STATS, and while I don't know all the ins and outs of SportVU, I can tell you it creates an amazing amount of data that can be sliced and diced a million different ways and be tailor-made for whatever the end user desires. On my specific end, we're hoping to integrate the NBA info into our previews _ mainly the second-level statistics that would be unique for the reader for the upcoming season that coaching staffs may also use as scouting report/player tendencies. I wouldn't be surprised to see Buzz show up here asking a million questions. The group which operates SportVU has done incredible work in a short amount of time to get the NBA to buy in league-wide.

It's beginning to seem inevitable that one day soon we will wake up to find that Duke has become the "Marquette of the East".
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Duke doing some other things, too.  Their trigger safety class apparently was ignored.

If Duke is letting them play with M4s and M240s we need something to compete with them in recruiting.

Keefe, can you arrange for rides in an A-10 or at least a ride in a trainer like the T-38 for all recruits/players.

How about a ride in a Soviet Era MiG?  It's no problem to bring up to the MU campus.  Just watch:

I love Russia videos, particularly dashcam videos.  A MiG would work just fine, now we just have to find one and a pilot.

Coach K took the team to West Point and they had target practice resulting in that picture
