List down to two schools, both not named Marquette.

I am aware of no more 2014 Centers that are on the recruiting board.

Silenzio. Parla il moomoo.

I guess that you are calling Tory Miller a PF then.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

He took officials to Arizona State and USC...so I am assuming those are the two.

Lattin is gone also

So it's Miller or bust now? Would Buzz take both Hill and Shayok or would he save one space for a JC big?

Jerry Meyer seems to think Marquette would take Hill and Shayok.

My two cents, take them both, and if you get a big, oversign.  Someone will leave for the draft or otherwise transfer.

I am 99% sure that is what they will do *if* offered the opportunity.

I see no reason to take both, if one commits next week, the other one is out.  Cohen is a guard, both are guards and you have a bunch coming back, it makes no sense.
Leave one open for a transfer or JC kid in spring.  They will be awful small in 2 years, might have some height but no bulk, guess Deonte Burton will be playing center.

I don't think there was ever any indicator we were in the running for Craig.  We simply had a visit with him and offer, but that is about all I saw in regards to being linked with him.  Didn't seem like there was strong mutual interest at any point.

I have no idea who might be out there but adding a JC to Taylor's class makes a ton of sense to me.  Sure would be nice if 'Jae Crowder II' could give us two solid years of leadership alongside Steve.  We all know what Coach Al said about Freshmen.

We are doomed!

Doomed, I say!!!

Not at all, you can win with good shooting and fast breaking (if you get a rebound), not sure how other teams will defend MU, a frontline of Taylor, McKay, Burton would not be
to bad, add Wilson and Mayo and you have a pretty fun team to watch.  Juan Anderson might be in there as well.  Malik Harris will have to play some upfront minutes next year.

Shayok and Hill are not the same player.  Hill is one of the top scoring guards left in the country.  He fills a critical need IMO.

Shayok is more of a wing player in the mold of Juan Anderson (at least as body type goes.)

Of course there was not any "mutual interest" in him. We did not really want or need him. We are concentrating on more better fits. Translation: other switchables.

I saw one of the best JUCO big men committed to Kansas St last night. I don't know any details about him, but wonder if we were recruiting him?
Bring back FFP!!!

2014-2015 MU will have Taylor and McKay.  2015 will enter the Diamond Stone year.

brewcity77

I think we would take Hill, Shayok, and Miller. I actually think there's a decent chance all three commit at Madness.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

The writing on the wall seems to be that Hill and Shayok will fill our last two spots in this years class. I am perfectly fine with this. That should be good for another top 25 class full of guys who want to be at Marquette. We do need to sign a big, but there are still options for us:

1) We oversign. We get Tory Miler, Travon Bunch, a juco, or a senior transfer for the 5. We have enough potential talent on this team that someone could get drafted early. Also, there always seems to be a Jamal Ferguson, Chris Christopherson, or Jamail Jones who flames out and transfers elsewhere.

2) We get someone in 2015. If Steve has truly grown to 6"9 then he can play the 5 next year. McKay can back him up and Harris may grow in the next year. It would certainly not be the smallest team we have ever fielded. Buzz is big game hunting in 2015. I think we currently have 7 offers out to bigs ranked in the top 50 in 2015. I am confident we will land one of them. Between that signee and Taylor, we will be fine at the five in the future.

3) Otule gets his 7th year of eligibility

Based on the picture below, it looks like Steve is very near 6'9" now. I say this because Jameel (just behind him) has been measured at 6' 9 3/4" (based upon his own tweet), and it looks like Jameel doesn't have more than an inch on him, minus the hair.

I am very comfortable with the thought of Steve and Jameel being the 4 and 5 for the 2014 season. Both are great rebounders and are above-average athletes. We may run into problems if we play a thick-bodied, skilled big ala davante, but otherwise we should be fine. However, we will need a big by the 2015 season (fingers crossed for Stone).
