Didn't realize the Hall's class was that good - they moved up #14 spots...I'm assuming its the 5 star they just signed..Whitehead

But the NBE is not good for recruiting.  Because Seton Hall, Georgetown, Providence, Xavier, and Nova were all known for their dominant recruiting coming in.  They're all on the decline.

Those rankings are the best news.  Especially after the depature of Stevens we really needed that.

Yes.. but in addition to Whitehead, their 2014 class includes NY Lightning teammates Khadeen Carrington (solid) and Angel Delgado (big time rebounder, interested to see how well he does)...

According to this site us and UW are the only schools Diamond Stone is warm on. What are our chances? Does the UW game this year have added significance in this recruiting battle?

I think that will change once the 2015 recruiting heats up. Regarding the game, I can't see Stone making a decision on the basis of one game.

how big of a role will duane wilson play...without sounding like a creep....anyone know how close they are?

One of our posters (Freeport Warrior, I think) says we have no chance with Stone and that his relationship with Duane is one of the reasons.

Meaning they don't get along?

Freeport suggested they're less than buddies.

Goldenboy suggests otherwise. We shall find out soon enough.

I don't believe that that was the message.  In addition, I think that there have been some credible statements on MUScoop along the lines of the two of them being good friends.  I believe FreeportWarrior's point was more along the lines of Stone (or at least his Dad) believing that college would be a good time for Diamond to step out on his own without Duane.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I don't think that is updated. The crystal ball function on the same site has called Diamond Stone for Kentucky

Georgetown, Kentucky, and Duke will all be heavily involved with stone. So add Marquette and Wisconsin and that's probably going to be his final 5.

I heard that said before and it just does not make sense to me. I can understand it in high school with Duane being older and receiving the attention when Stone was a freshmen and sophomore. Stone will have two years at Dominican without playing with Wilson and will be the main focus. Whereever he goes to college he will have to share the lime light with other players, so the idea of him not wanting to play in Duane's shadow makes no sense to me.

It may not be a matter of stepping out away from Duane as much as it is a matter of stepping out away from Milwaukee.

I'd be happy if any of my kids went to Marquette but, as a Milwaukee area resident, I'd prefer it if they went some place a little bit farther away and didn't have the safety net of mom and dad being a short drive up 43. If any of them were highly-recruited athletes (not holding my breath on that one), I'd feel even more strongly about them getting away from home.

Depends on the individual person/family.  Some recruits like to play close to home so their family can come see them at home games.

Was one of the reasons I chose MU. As an only child I wanted to get away from Mom and Dad and be on my own. Being a thousand miles away teaches you more than just independence; it also teaches you how much you appreciate home as well.

I'm not saying a kid should go hundreds or thousands of miles from home, but there are other very good schools that aren't a 15-minute drive from home.
