Freddie Mercury a Marquette fan?

"We Are The Champions" was recorded and released in 1977 after our Warriors brought home the NCAA title. No way is this merely a coincidence.

I swore I was done saying negative things about MU women, but this one is simply too much to pass up......

Freddy Mercury a Marquette fan?   Isn't that why he wrote "Fat-bottomed girls"?     Hey-oh/

I humbly apologize.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Lots of songs were written in 1977; I would guess less than half of them were inspired by Marquette Basketball.

Mercury: "I was thinking about football when I wrote it. I wanted a participation song, something that the fans could latch on to. Of course, I've given it more theatrical subtlety than an ordinary football chant. I suppose it could also be construed as my version of "I Did It My Way." We have made it, and it certainly wasn't easy. No bed of roses as the song says. And it's still not easy."

My recollection is that the song was played at the Arena before the start of our first game of the '77-'78 season.

I'm not sure I'd give much credit to Freddie's taste in girls ?-( .

Smokey and the Bandit came out shortly after.  Bleuteaux was modeled on Burt Reynolds.
Star Wars also was released shortly after.  Chewbacca AND Marquette both have 9 letters.
Coincidence?

"Freddie Mercury a Marquette fan?"

Freddie's dead.
That's what I said...
Let the man rap a plan; 'said he'd send him home.
But his hope was a rope, and he should have known.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

This all makes sense. Crean and Bo Ryan were sent from the dark side.

I'm pretty certain Freddie had little taste for girls...
