Those aren't too shabby. I give my seal of approval.

Under armor?

When and how did they lose their Nike licensing?
Will UA hurt their recruiting?

I like those also.  Way better than those Louisville, Cincinnati & Notre Dame uniforms from last season.

Isaiah Whitehead is expected to commit to them this week. Of course, he's down to SJU and SHU because schools aren't interesting in him despite his talent.

I don't know why Native Americans would have objected to this subtle imagery.

So true. Loving the city outline.

Bouncing a red kickball to represent a basketball team is very offensive.

Also have these as alternates for OC (I think).  Diggin' these more than the skyline ones, IMO. Good mesh of classic and modern.

The faux-throwbacks will be worn for BE games. All four are excellent, IMO.

Nice to see a team redesign their uniforms and have them actually look like traditional basketball uniforms.

If only college football teams could do the same.

Interesting that a Native American (an oxymoron if you study history) designed that logo.  That's why I posted it.

We get it Chicos.  PC is run amok.  It wasn't like this in the good ole days when straight, white males weren't so oppressed.

First person blocked on here.  Congrats.

I think the skyline look is cool!

You know, you don't have to be like this.

You're a smart guy with some good insights into college athletics. You could just be that guy on MUScoop. I remember that guy. I liked that guy.

You don't HAVE to be what you have become.

SJU didn't "lose" their Nike licensing. Instead, they chose to sign a much more lucrative deal with Under Armour.

As this link notes, Under Armour is gaining momentum and signing programs such as Auburn, Maryland, South Carolina, Texas Tech, Hawai'i, Northwestern, Boston College, South Florida, and Utah.

As for the unis themselves, I think the skyline on both the shorts & jerseys is overkill. I'd prefer to pick one and maybe just switch the lay out for the road set.

Love the lettering on the front of that second pair of jerseys. I prefer when the letters are separated instead of being one "iron-on patch" looking thing, like what Marquette has. I also love the font used. Very classy.

I wish Marquette would change the lettering to the style like St. John's alternatives here. Also wish that they'd make them a little more simple and classic look, a la the 1971-1974 away uniforms. Make the shoulders the same color as the rest of the uniform. Have that alternating color piping go along the arm holes and the collar- and of course down the sides. I think we should return to the style of "marquette" that was on the front of the 2003-2007 jerseys. Love that fancy "Q".

Agree.  Generally like the design, but the double skyline is too much.

MarsupialMadness

If I were from NYC, I would buy those shorts, even if I didn't particularly love St John's.

So from a sales perspective (which is the only reason they update jerseys anyway, right?) I think it's a good move.

Something to consider if you are DePaul.

Atticus

Trying too hard. Nike had those ridiculous jerseys with campus buildings imprinted on the backs. No one could figure them out when players wore them. SJU should go back to the cursive lettering like the had many years ago.

I like the simple design. Nike blows. And before someone says "yeah, but recruits care...," there is only one school in the country that gets props for ugly uniforms and that is Oregon. Gimmick marketing is for the white sox.

These aren't Nike designs, they are Under Armour.  And I don't think recruits care that much, but you can't deny that it is another revenue source for the university.

I like how they are branding the "We are New York's team.  We are St. John's."

Why not use the largest market in the country to your advantage?

Yes, I know these are UA uniforms. Did you know Syracuse University branded itself as "New York's College Team" several years ago? Watch a Yankees game - there is a freaking left field wall partition that says it. New York's college team should be able to sell out MSG every game considering the population density. Unfortunately, they play cupcakes on campus because no one cares!

There's a debate on this over on the BE website (holylandofhoops.com) (sorry for plugging other sites, mods).

The argument is that Gtown should kill the rivalry with Cuse.  The reason is that Cuse wants SJU, Gtown, and Nova on the schedule for at least a couple reasons
1) Helps them keep a foothold on East Coast recruiting (NYC, Philly, Bmore-DC), which is where most of their recruits come from
2) Now that they dont have access to the BE tourney, they have very limited access to MSG, which they need to keep up the marketing slogan of being "New York City's college team."

Blue Horseshoe

Here are two videos that will give better perspective about how Under Armour researches and designs some of their uniforms. In my opinion, they killed it with the Northwestern football unis.

The entire process is a lot more complicated than just slapping a skyline on a pair of shorts.
