Doesn't count until he plays in a regular season game...means nothing

MU B2002

I know u are trolling whoever made that comment on here in the first place to prove some point. But why?  This thread was going so well for like 5 whole posts.

forgetful

In some regards, not that surprising.  He has good size, is talented and at MU proved he would step aside and do the team thing, bust his ass and play defense.

There is a place in the NBA for those players and MU is proving to be a top source of the right attitude of athletes.

So does ASU or Marquette get credit?

Both.  But I would always point to the "I've never had a team like this family" speech on senior night if I'm Buzz talking to prospective recruits.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

The signing.  Looks like the Kings roster is at 17 based on ESPN.  Maybe not a great chance of making the final cut, but no chance at all if you don't get this far.

Cowbell Kingdom indicates Lockett actually puts them at 15.  I agree with your point that being signed now doesn't guarantee he is with the Kings on game day.  Still great news however.

holy cr@p; I am just so pleasantly stunned.  Whatever happens, so good for Trent, Buzz and MU.

Otule's Glass Eye

I'm very pleasantly surprised. The fact that both him and Buycks were signed this year after being sub-10 PPG scorers their senior years is amazing and shows what hard work can get you.

EnderWiggen

Very very pleasantly surprised.  Great news for him!  And yes, this makes Vander's decision even more wtf worthy.

respectfully...I actually think it validates Blue's decision.   Objectively, forget the emotion of wanting Blue to stay another year, who would have thought at year end Lockett was more likely to sign an NBA contract than Blue given the year's performances and the run in the tourney?    I agree with the persective that VB staying another year only would have made his chances to make the NBA much stronger, but, in his mind.....if a player like Trent can get a whiff at it...how can a dude so confident in his abilities like Blue not think he can as well at this point in his life?   I guess we shall see if VB gets invited to and sticks with an NBA team through camp.    I completely share the complete and pleasant surprise of Trent getting a shot.   I loved his attitude and work ethic at MU and he only got stronger as the year progressed.   His senior day speech will always remain a highlight of the season to me.

Markusquette

Awesome for Lockett.  Just goes to show you how valuable he really was in his short stint at MU.  Didn't get much love until the end of the year.

Something funny about all those Buycks and Lockett bashers around here and yet both of them at least will get a cup of coffee in the NBA, hopefully more.

Congrats Trent!

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Awesome news. From a work ethic and attitude standpoint, not sure they are many others who deserve this shot more. Imagine if he can work his way to seeing any sort of playing time. That would be great news not only for him, but our program as well.

Congrats Trent!

Lockett signed a 1 year guaranteed contract with a 2nd year team option. He's on the roster and will play in the NBA.

That's awesome! Great for Trent, he deserves it. Nice for MU and Buzz too.

Yes, I was a Lockett badger, but I'm so happy for the brother. But, after watching him in summer league, I feel Buzz held him back as far as playing point and handling the ball. This guy played point very well for Sacramento and made good entry passes for dunks and lay-ups. He could of took D. Wilson minutes at any point and had a greater impact on our past season. Maybe Buzz is too loyal to some people.

Congrats Trent! I'm SORRY but I didn't now. I blame it on Buzz.  ;D
