Update - Cody Schwartz

Versatility is a highly valued attribute at any level of basketball, and few, if any prospects in the country have more than De Pere (Wis.) West De Pere 2015 Forward Cody Schwartz. With his ability to dominate a game inside and out, it was no wonder why the Schwartz was able to double his offer list over the summer, pushing his total to six. "It was a good feeling," Schwartz told NY2LASPORTS.COM Monday night. "It was good to see that the hard work was starting to pay off."

Davidson, Marquette, and Toledo entered the mix for Schwartz most recently. The Wisconsin native broke down his newest offers with NY2LASPORTS.COM:

Davidson: "I was kind of excited. I talked to Luke Worthington, who almost went there. He said Davidson is a great place, great academics, and great campus. I was pretty excited when I heard about the offer. Coach (Bob) McKillop told me all about Davidson."

Marquette: "It was a very good feeling. Them being a high major school, it was a very good feeling. Marquette is a big Wisconsin college. I followed them a little bit and I'm definitely a Marquette fan with them being in Wisconsin. It was a good feeling getting that offer."

Toledo: "I didn't know too much about them. They've had a little bit of contact with me. They came to an open gym before and watched me over the summer." Creighton, Northern Iowa, and Wisconsin-Green Bay have had offers on the table since Schwartz was a sophomore. All three programs still remain high on the 6-8 forward heading into his junior year. Creighton: "I really think their play style fits very well with mine. Coach (Greg) McDermott kind of compares me to Doug McDermott with the way I post up and can shoot the 3-pointer. He would just use me in different ways. Their playing style definitely sticks out to me." Northern Iowa: "I went to a practice there. I liked what they did a lot. They're a very hard working team. I like the coaching staff a lot there. They were great, easy to talk to, and easy to get along with." Wisconsin-Green Bay: "It's very close to home. The coaching staff there is great. They're great guys to talk to. I get along with them well. I've watched a lot of their games last year. I just go into town 10 minutes away. I've got a good idea of what they're about." Gonzaga, Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, Northwestern, Wisconsin and others are showing interest in Schwartz at the moment. After a big July, Schwartz said both the Bulldogs and Wildcats have become very interested. Gonzaga: "They liked the way I played in July. They've told me about their program. They just said they liked my game and they'll be watching me. They'll try and get to an open gym and see me workout." Northwestern: "I talked to their coach. He said they'd like to get me there for a football game." Schwartz has no visits set for the fall, but trips to Creighton, Northwestern, and Wisconsin are currently in the works. As a sophomore, Schwartz averaged roughly 19 points per game en route to being named Player of the Year in the Bay Conference during the 2012-2013 season. No leaders have emerged yet for the versatile forward, who doesn't plan to narrow down his list until the spring, at earliest. "I'm still kind of wide open to everybody," he said. "I would say maybe next season or in April or May, I'll probably start taking a closer look. So far right now, it's wide open." Schwartz plays for the Wisconsin Blizzard during the grassroots season.
Silenzio. Parla il moomoo.

Willie, you see 6'8, 190, and think that he is unworthy and not a real big.   I see a Junior-to-be with time to fill out and grow who is interested in MU.

Sounds more excited about the Davidson offer.

Must not have watched the last minute and a half of the Davidson game.

I was thinking the same thing.

"Marquette is a big Wisconsin college".  Not sure what to make of that.

There will be nothing to talk about because MU doesn't get 4/5 Star bigs!

source?

If we really did offer him, then Buzz saw something he likes. I trust his opinion. This kid is young with room to grow (he could easily get up to 6'9'' 215 by freshman year of college) and improve his skills.

Thanx  chicos bail.. that brings back memories! To me it sounds like creighton and UW have his attention and he has heard of this MU place somewhere in Wisconsin.  :-\

Needs to fill out.   Needs to work on his left hand.    Nice building blocks, though.

Don't know what you are referring to. I have advocated Gardner since he started playing as a Frosh, while a number of others on this board blasted him. here is a statement from Skink/Sultan back then, as an example:
"Otule is our best center.  Gardner cannot defend nor can he rebound.  And Otule has two years left."

And the compulsive fascination with "bigs" and penises continues
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

He's referring to the fact that you said "talk to me when he reaches 4 star status". Gardner was not a 4 star and he turned out very well. So, the implication is that stars aren't the end all, be all that you think they are.

Could only handle a min of that mixtape.

It was rough to watch. Seriously not a single dunk in the mix. How can this be considered a highlight video?

Sorry, but you have your "implication" applied to me as all wrong. What I have said is that I view our ability to get to the FF predicated on landing a stud big. If we continue to hope that every 8 years a Gardner will fall into our lap and that is the solution, we will not take the next step. I never said that stars are the end all, be all as you allege. I do not believe that two stars will be the solution either. Yeah, we can all hope that one will develop to be great, but how often does that happen? We should occasionally land a stud big, especially if they are in our backyard. If we did it every 4 to 5 years then that should be something to be proud of.
