New Converse Wade Stuff at The Spirit Shop
« on: October 08, 2007, 03:11:50 PM »
Just walking through the AMU today and stopped by the Spirit Shop.  Right in front is all brand new Converse Wade gear: sweatshirts, t shirts, long sleeve shirts, and shorts.  Dual branding...Nike and Converse very nice!

Two questions....
« Reply #8 on: October 09, 2007, 11:47:21 AM »
anyone know any descriptions of the jerseys?

The Wiki knows...

1. Are you sure those are the official throwback jersey they'll don this year? I hope so, I just thought that article was unclear.
2. For the poster who was in the Spirit Shoppe -- was that jersey for sale? If so, I know what I'll get my nephew for his birthday in November.

Pretty sure - the caption on the picture in the article said:
"An actual Marquette retro jersey, hanging inside the team's video room on campus."

I suppose they could just hang a bunch of the old jerseys in the video room, but based on Jerel's description, it sounds like the one.

I took the caption to mean that the jersey pictured is an actual jersey from 1974. That's why it's in a case. There are all kinds of similar displays in the McGuire Center. I hope we use that one, I'm just not sure yet.

I just checked out the WADE gear.

Very nice looking stuff. Very high quality materals, all real nice soft cotton. Much better than the quality Nike gives us.

Design, everything has a '3' and WADE on it. Overall very nice looking. I may be asking for some of the items for Christmas.

Prices are a bit steep. The two zip-up hoodies are $70 and $75. The shirts are $30. They are real nice cotton blends that feel much better than your general shirts and sweatshirts though.

Overall, the stuff looks much better than the Wade items from Converse that were put out last year.

No jerseys, there was also a pair of windpants, I didn't check the price though.

On another note, the new Eagle logo is getting some looks in the store.

I was referring to actual amount of merchandise with the logo on it. Mainly, women's and children merch. But a lot of new logo on the knick-knacks.

I'm seeing that new eagle around campus WAY too much. They have it on hoodies and other shirts that both guys and girls have been wearing.  Not a fan of that stupid bird and it really makes me want to throw up when I see it more than once a day.

Rats.

I was really hoping the the MU monogram would really remain the primary logo and the eagle would be used for little stuff for kids and such.

Maybe I was wrong in my assumption.

I personally don't like the bird... but I love the MU monogram, so I will just keep purchasing that stuff.

Thanks for the pics. Would love clearer ones obviously. ;)

For the lazy folks...here's the newest item with "Da Bird" on MU's shop site:

I'm pretty sure you're right.  If you look closely at the picture, you can see the reflection of at least three other framed jerseys.  I think that's just how they've got the room decorated -- with older jerseys.  I think they just pictured that one because it's similar to the one Jerel described.
