AR was defending his friend. He did nothing wrong. And no, he's not going to play for free this season.

Rodgers might want to come out and say "my bad", he looks/sounds/was a complete idiot for supporting Braun like he did, especially to the degree he did. The only thing he did wrong was come across as a jackass and look really stupid in this. Sometimes it's best to keep your mouth shut.

What message do you send when a reporter (or Tweeter or whatever) asks you, "Do you believe your friend Ryan Braun is really clean?" and you respond, "No comment."?  There was absolutely nothing else he could've said, being a self-proclaimed good friend of Braun's.

AR's biggest crime is hitting "send." Twitter can be dangerous.

You should heed your own advice. Had it been cutler, you would be proclaiming what great character he has supporting his friend. If AR truly believed what he said based perhaps on what Braun told him, then why shouldn't he have said what he did. Braun fooled a hell of a lot of people.

Lol.  What are you basing this on in regards to Dish, simply because he is a fan?

Based on previous posts what else would I base it on, I don't know the guy. Kind of weak to bash AR. Bash braun, why make it about AR

What the hell does this have to do with Cutler? Take off the green and gold glasses for christs sake. This has to do with common sense and not making idiotic statements. He's getting beaten up nationally for his stupid comments and rightfully so. My god, who cares that he's the Packers QB. Any idiot that said that should get hammered.

Nothing to do with cutler, my point is perhaps you are wearing the blue and orange glasses in making your criticism. Many comments are idiotic in hind sight, mine and yours included. He believed what he said when he said them and was supporting a friend who he believed in. I dont find that idiotic. Had he known braun was using peds, and made this statements then that is idiotic.

Re-read Rodgers tweets. It's one thing to say "I support my friend, glad he was cleared". Rodgers may be his friend, but he's not stupid. Braun got off on a tecnicality. The degree that Rodgers went after ESPN and others on this issue was absurd. To jokingly (or not) put his salary on the line in support of the guy getting off on a technicality...I mean come on.

It's one thing to show support, it's another to handle it the way he did. Even if his name was Bob Smith and he was a janitor, it was stupid.

You are correct he should have kept his mouth shut, but again you are looking in hind sight. These guys are close friends, they have business deals together. If your best friend told you "hey trust me this is bs believe me." you would probably believe him and support him.

I agree with Matt.
Kemp whined about when he lost out to begin with. Where do you draw the line. How many other awards would you have to go back and take away over the last 20 plus years.

Didn't the NFL strip someone of an award because of ped use, or am I making that up?

I thought Kemp deserved it regardless, but I agree you can't go back and start stripping MVP's from ARod, Bonds, and Clemons CY Youngs.

If you think Kemp has never used PEDs, then I know a good deal on a bridge in NY.

+1.  A platform that encourages talking out of your ass anytime, anywhere...and a year and a half later people will dig it up and demand you answer for it.  That's just trouble, man.  My QB only has to answer for wearing another team's hat to the beach.

This sketch at the ESPYs last week sums that up very well

I hate Braun, but you can't take away his MVP award.

I do think it would help his public image if he said he was giving it to Kemp who truely deserved it.

brewcity77

If Rodgers owes that guy his salary, Braun owes the world his life.

Anything less than a lifetime ban is lenient. This is damaging to the game along the lines of Pete Rose, if not moreso because baseball is a game of hallowed numbers more than any other. Braun, like Bonds, Palmiero, McGwire, and Sosa before him are spitting on the actions and memories of all the men that came before them. They are spitting on the integrity of the game. Baseball won't ban him like they will A-Rod, but they should because that is the only true deterrent that will truly compel future players not to follow suit.

As they won't suspend him, what they should do is mandate that anyone with a positive test has their contract amended to pay them the league minimum. That way it doesn't penalize the team and also doesn't let the player get rewarded by having a contract voided but being able to sign with a new team for more money. Lifetime ban or league minimum. Of course, we'll see neither.

He should give it back, not necessarily give it to Kemp. It would help his image a small amount but it's still too little too late. He stood at a podium and vehemently denied an accusation that was 100% true. There's no coming back from that in the eye of your average baseball fan. Ask Rafael Palmeiro and his index finger.

Interesting idea. I actually think players should have to give back the money they earned, but instead of that I'd be in favor of the player's contract being voided and said player being forced to make no more than the league minimum as long as he's in MLB, lose his union membership and lose his pension.

If Braun retires after his contract run out, his suspension will have cost him 2.2% of his career earnings. What employee wouldn't want a 10-week vacation in exchange for 2.2% of their lifetime earnings?  ;)
