IU would want someone that has proven to go to the Final Four.   ;)

The first hire in their storied history to have a final four on his résumé was Kelvin Sampson. Worked out so well they doubled down on Crean :)

Had to go check in with the 'unwashed' over on Shaggybevo.com  - I always feel kind of itchy after going there - they aren't talking much about Barnes leaving at least not in recent days.  A while back they were frothing about getting him out of town....

Weird, since they went after Tony Bennett and Sean Miller before settling for you-know-who.

I was hoping the wink gave it away.  Let's throw in higher graduation rates while we are at it, with a double wink.   ;)  ;)

Hope they're happy in Bloomington with last season's preseason #1 team and the consensus choice to win the National Championship. Guess two potential lottery picks isn't enough when you have a used car salesman coachin' against a zone defense. Lots of sizzle bein' sold in Indiana. Hope they're happy with their choice, I know I am.

They're happy, but that can change pretty quickly.  Another great recruiting class coming in.  They also weren't the consensus pick to win the championship (Louisville was at 9-2) ....I hear they did get to 40 points against Syracuse, however.   ;)

Yeah, if we're going by the first time each team played Syracuse this year, Marquette had no problem getting to 40 points against them either.  Or 50.  Or 60.  Or 70.  In fact, they scored 24 points more than Indiana did and won the game compared to Indiana's 11 point loss.  That's OK though.  It also seems to me as though Marquette made it further than Indiana in this year's tournament (as has been the case each of the last 5 years...weird, especially considering Crean made a Final Four at Marquette yet thought he'd leave for Indiana because he thought he'd get there regularly at Indiana, while he knew he couldn't recruit well enough at Marquette...yet he has 0 Final Fours - or Elite Eights - at IIII.  Thank God for those thoughts...Buzz infinitely >>>>>>> Crean).

For someone who claims to cheer for Marquette first and then Indiana and Kansas, that's kind of a weird comment.

Wow.  Even with the wink, loyalties shining through.  Disappointing.

The only people between Bloomington and Lexington that are happy are nearly equidistant from both.

When was the last time a university had a top 10 ranked FB and BKB team?

Florida I believe won titles in both the same year.

Loyalties are clear Lloyd and it's not even close.  MU #1 and IU a distant distant distant 2nd...not even close.

Benny, you have been so horrifically wrong on IU the last few years I'll give you a pass on this one, but the track record from you on them has been really bad.....predictions and all.

Is it once a decade? Twice? Always state schools?

I know Texas BKB will be back but FB will always be king in Tejas.

Eh ... Marquette didn't exactly do a fantastic job solving the Syracuse zone in the tournament either, as I recall.

Only good shooters can kill great zones. I hope we have them now.....?

It would almost HAVE to be state schools, as only a few private schools have BCS level football.

I'll concede that I was wrong about them dropping out of the Top 25 in February, but that's hardly a "track record."  Though, I'm not talking about the team here, I'm talking about the fans.

There were a few examples of MU not doing a fantastic job against a zone last season.

Tough to beat a zone without shooters.   For the most part during the regular season, MU attacked the zone as well as could be expected considering the lack of elite shooters.    Buzz was able to fool Boeheim once in Milwaukee with the twin towers, but there was no way JB was going to get caught by that a second time, particularly in an E8 game.     That's not as bad as losing with elite shooters simply because you have no idea how to attack the zone.   ;)   (there, I winked so it doesn't count)

They overachieved last year, underachieved this year.  We'll see how things go in the future.  Some very good players coming in the next few years, grad rates very solid, program cleaned up...many fans care about that stuff.

Losing in the round of 16 as a #4seed is not overachieving, it's playing to your seed. In TC's career, he's made the tourney 7 times in 14 seasons. He's overachieved once (03), underachieved 4 times and played to his seed twice. 1-4-2 qualifies as less than stellar. Buzz, OTOH, is 3-1-1.
