So we finished 7-3 against the new conference and Georgetown finished 6-2.  We both ended up as the big east regular season champs.  So who would you say is the reigning champion?
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Coleman

We are both defending Big East champions. We split the title.

I think its a little silly to talk of a reigning champion of a league that hasn't even begun yet. I'd prefer to focus on MU starting a long run as repeat champions of the new Big East.

Simple: Marquette.

Ask a casual fan who won the Pac12 title in 2007, or the BIG in 2003?  Nobody cares about conference titles, march is the only thing that matters.  That's the great and horrible thing about the tournament, your season basically rides on that one game.

I agree, although if we abide by that standard then G'Town may never win a conference title.  JT III is the king of the early exit.

If performance in March is the only factor, MU and Butler will have the conference locked up for years to come....

The New Big East acquired all the Legacy Big East non-football conference histories and records.  So, GU and MU are defending conference co-champions.  The AAC starts anew, and technically, they would have no defending basketball champion even though Louisville is there a year.  I am sure ESPN will overlook that, though.
