If not Warriors, then I like the Marquette Aliens

Just go Huns or Visigoths.  Warriors, Germanic (like much of Wisconsin) seems to fit.

I think the Dominican Penguins is the best mascot on there.  Gives Jumpin Jesuits a run for sure.

Or, Illegal Aliens....er, Undocumented Immigrants.

The Associated Press and New York Times say we can't use those terms anymore.

How badass would it be if Marquette dropped a nickname altogether?

Not only unique, but pretty revolutionary to simply not have a mascot...

Since MU is in Milwaukee (and no one knows that), and MKE is famous for beer, how about a beer theme?

Amber Brewers
brew-ha-ha
brewskis
cervesa(s)
growlers
hops
lagers
liquid gold
sixers

Golden Nectar
Golden Flow
Golden Liquid
Golden Shower

You did see how many Warriors there are, right?

I love this poster. Pretty awesome. Although the D2 and D3 really crowds it up

Yes but unless I missed something, we were the only D1 warriors (not counting the Rainbows out in Hawaii)

I've got good news for you, Chicos - the NYT has no jurisdiction over what you can or cannot say.
"Half a billion we used to do about every two months...or as my old boss would say, 'you're on the hook for $8 million a day come hell or high water-.    Never missed in 6 years." - Chico apropos of nothing

You know what a golden shower is correct? If not you probably want to edit that one out.

Apparently you haven't seen Keefe's videos of him on the receiving end.  If you want a copy, PM Dr Blackheart.

Why the feck can East Stroudsburg be the G.D. warriors but we can't?

The ghost of Willie Wampun.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

For as long as Buzz is the coach, how about the Switchables?

I've been beating that drum for years. We chant "We Are Marquette", we all identify as Marquette, it means more than any mascot, whether Hilltopper, Golden Avalanche, Warrior, Golden Eagle, or Gold.

The more I look at this, the more I wonder why we're bending over backwards to be sensitive to just one group of people.  Heck, I see a whole bunch of nicknames and categories that would be offensive to other people:

Scottish - "Fighting Scots" seems awfully stereotypical.  What... was "Ohio Valley College Greasy Italians" not available?
Irish - Same as the Scots
God-fearing Deacons - At least those who don't consider themselves Demons
Muslims - A picture of Mohammed gets you a death threat, but "Crusaders" is ok?
Liberals - Gettysburg Bullets and the Chaminade Silverswords?  Those things kill people! (note: Marian are the Sabres, as in the tiger, not the sword, so no protests in Fondy, please)
Women over 40 - Especially those single mothers who like to "visit" their son's friends at Houston, College of Charleston, and especially IU-Kokomo.
LGBT Activists - Lots of schools in the "Bears" and "Fire and Flame" categories.  Only one Otters, though.

Fantastic. just really

I could get behind this.  It's not the Warriors, but it beats some lameass nickname that everyone either ignores, hides, or refuses to recognize.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Hmmm, that does have promise.

“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

How the frack can MU steal the Native American sport but not their nickname?
