he was a republican by RI standards which meant he was a leftie all the way.  his father, the late senator John Chafee, must be rolling in his grave.  although, on the elder's watch as Sec of the Navy, Little Rhody lost it's naval presence which was a huge economic blow for the state, so Linclcomes by his turncoat-ness naturally
