Incredible First Half Perfomance
« on: November 21, 2006, 07:27:02 AM »
Haven't seen anything like the first 10 minutes of the game maybe since I've been watching MU (which is a long time.)  The energy and speed of the team was something to behold.  MU was moving at 78 rpm while TT was at 33 rpm (dating myself with old phonograph record references.) McNeal was absolutely everywhere - TT didn't know what hit them.  There is still plenty to work on (free throws, taking care of the ball in the 2nd half, 3-point shooting) but the start was a work of art.  Had I remembered that Bobby Knigt always plays man-to-man, I would have made a small wager on the game - you can't play this team man-to-man.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the deflections!

We had our hands on every pass and on every dribble.  I know that Crean and the staff keep a running log of deflections, and the numbers must have been off the charts!

Great aggressive play, focused energy, and quick pace to the game.  Clearly, the 20 second shot clock in practice has helped move the speed of our offense.

It's amazing to think of the difference from last night's game to the Idaho St. game.  Have to imagine Acker on the bench (redshirted), has been an unsung hero in helping getting this team's endurance to where it is (similar to DWade's effect as an academic redshirt).

The first half of last nights' game reminded me of the second half of the Alabama game.......MU is terrific when TC turns'em loose.

i am not sure if everyone saw my post last week, but when everyone was down on MU for barely beating hillsdale and idaho st, i said crean needs to let these guys play their game AND throw DJ some oops.  well, it seemed like every play for a few minute span was an alley oop to DJ and he threw it down a couple times.  it just goes to show that crean is finally letting the boys run and not running the weave at the top of the key.  go MU!!!!!
