Beware MU fans: DC Metro is brutal

Washington, D.C. - If you plan to attend the Elite Eight game Saturday and considering taking the subway when it is over, here is what happened after the games Thursday night:

I lived there for a semester at the Les Aspin Center and rode the Metro several times, sometimes at peak hours, and never had a problem like this. Even when my friends took the Metro home from the Packers v. Redskins game they didn't have any such problems.

Silkk the Shaka

Dude's used his forum to complain about public transportation. If it wasn't obvious enough already, he's about as useless as Peter King.

Next he's going to rent a car and complain about DC traffic...and then next weekend about Atlanta traffic.

Sounds like a small town chap with the typical big city fraidy cat feeling.

Metro is one of the better systems we have in the country.

You would think the Journal-Sentinel could spring for a cab ride, hey?

In all fairness, the Metro closes at midnight on the weekdays and the game let out at 11:45.  Major effup by the host city and NCAA.  The line at the Chinatown entrance was all the way out on the street and then some so we walked a couple of blocks to the Metro Center stop, only to be greeted by the slamming of the steel gates.

No, it sucks. Especially on the weekends. Huge gaps in the map, stupidly long waits outside of peak hours, and always single tracking.

I love DC, but the best thing you can say about our Metro is that it's clean.

Fair enough, though cleanliness is half the battle. I've had worse experiences in other cities but isn't that the case with everything?

Homer here. Ran into the same problem. Just started walking and got cab. Generally metro is great-though u need ticket to get on and off-and that's stupid.

When will the mods stop posting useless MikeHunt Rants.

Clam Crowder

I have never had a problem with the DC metro, in fact I have always thought it was a pretty good system. WTF does this have to do with anything Mike? lol

BrewCity83

Heck, the Miami Herald article said the Hurricane team bus took 45 minutes to get to the arena (1.5 miles) before the game due to traffic.  So big deal, MikeHunt couldn't lay down on his hotel bed and have a hamburger right away after work.  Boo Hoo.

Sportswriters use their blogs for different purposes than their main newspaper/Internet stories.

A blog is a perfect place for something like this and, judging from the comments of at least a few posters here, this was a legit complaint/warning.

I'm planning to use the Metro tonight after the game and hoping for the best.

Metro should be fine today. WMATA has delayed the normal Spring weekend track work, which gums up most weekends, on account of the tourists here for the Cherry Blossom Festival. However be realistic and expect a queue when 19,000 pour into the tunnels.

Those around and looking to do something touristy before the game... Kite festival is on the mall this morning and usually pretty impressive.
