On any given day, Brandon Paul can beat pretty much any team in the country on his own. Then go out and lose to Purdue the next day. Or Northwestern. Or Iowa.

Perfectly stated, brew. Illinois already has shown that it can beat the No. 1 team  and lose to bad teams. That's what happens when you live by the 3.

I absolutely would rather play Illinois than Miami ... but only if we then beat Illinois. I don't know anybody who went to Miami but I have lots of friends who went to Illinois and they would be insufferable if we lose. Then again, it sure would be sweet to beat them and be the one with the bragging rights!!!!

Illinois fans are huge front runners.  They did a lot of talking when they had Deron Williams and the few years before that.  Since, even though they have had OK teams, you have heard nothing.  You have not heard anything from their fans all year this year but you will start hearing from them if they beat Miami.

As a kid from the suburbs, visiting friends at the U of I was the worst fracking experience ever. From rows and row of date-rapey frat houses where you had to introduce yourself to "Bluto" to get a beer, to the absolutely lamest bars I've ever been to, that placed sucked hard.

And the generalizations of their students is dead on.  Where do you think the douchiest-of-douchebags who lives in Lincoln Park went to college?

Chicago's preeminent Marquette bar The Schoolyard also plays host to U of I functions making it a 2school bar.  I don't think they can handle the crowd if both teams win.  Considering the manager and some of the guys who bartend are MU guys, I can't imagine anything but the mU rah rah song to be played over the speakers at commercial breaks.  That place will be packed to the gills.
