I love and hate the 2012/2013 Warriors.  Down by 5 with 2:00 minutes left they lazily dribble and pass around the perimeter, run-down the shot clock and jack a 23 footer that of course rims out.  At which point I start cursing this team.

After that point, I am not sure if they missed a shot?  As Vander Blue's lay-up falls, I praise the attitude and heart of this team.

I cannot figure out if they are exceedingly well-coached or poorly coached, athletic or slow, good shooters or poor shooters?  I cannot make sense of this team.  I do not like watching them, but I cannot stop watching them.

I will say, they do not quit, and maybe that is all that needs to be said.

Great post. Agree with the whole thing. Really right on target IMO.

They are well coached.  This is very much an incomplete team that has won a share of the BE title and might make their third straight S16.  Compare how this team wins with how Buzz's early teams won...night and day.  Dude can coach.

Well said.  And, IMO, he can coach very well.  That doesn't, however, make him immortal.  Coaching is about putting your players in a position to succeed, but he can't shoot for them, can't make rotations for the, dive for loose balls, etc.  Way too much credit is given to coaches and too much blame over a single play or plays.  He has them believing, they are never out of it...that attitude comes from the coach, IMO.  I don't care for some of his substitution patterns, but he finds a way.

Well coached team.   Think of the different ways MU has won in his 5 years here.      As Sultan said, there is not a complete player on this team.  Everybody has a 'but' attached to him.   He's a leader, but he dribbles too high.    He is the most talented player, but he doesn't play hard all of the time.   He is ok, but he is supposed to be an all american by now.   He's a good post scorer, but he can't dunk.   Admire how the team didn't panic when so many others might have.   Admire how the coach decided to NOT foul in the last two minutes, instead playing stellar defense and not giving Davidson free throw attempts.   24-9, going on to Saturday.   What is there to not like?

I LOVE buzz, but cannot say he is great coach. Dude can recruit and get most out of guys and that is obvious. Game coaching he might need some work.

I'm glad LW mentored Buzz after last season's win @ WVU or we wouldn't be in this position.

Oh I agree with you here.  He's getting better.

Great post!  I admit I do not understand this team.  Love them, but don't understand them.

Like the rest of us, he is a work in progress.   In his post-game presser, he touched on the number of end-game situation that has had in his 5 years here.   That this team's performance down the stretch is a product of having been there so many times over the years.

I hate agreeing with the Sultan, but Buzz is improving as a coach.  When I think back to all those last second losses (many where Marquette threw the ball way or took a horrendous shot), something has changed for the better.  I'm thinking that change is Buzz.

Goose

As long as Buzz has quality guys helping him I could not care less if he gets better or not. A good coaching staff hides sins and that is fine by me. Every guy has skills and he has the one that means most to me... he can relate with these kids and recruit.

PuertoRicanNightmare

The team is a loathsome offensive brute, yet I can't look away.
