Get ready to hammer me,

*  Big East withdraws from NCAA for Men's and Women's Basketball
*  Scholarship players receive $10000 stipend per year
*  Top 4 Teams invited to play in a World Championship featuring teams worldwide  played at the Garden

Result:  Best players in nation would play in the Big East
Highest attendance and largest Network Contracts
Couldn't be duplicated by NCAA due to cost of parity in all sports

Other conferences will respond, and it will be the beginning of the end for the financial feasibility of collegiate athletics.  See: mutually assured destruction.

It's going to happen eventually, but their is no need to hasten its coming.  I'll be better for the Big East, a basketball conference, if we let football drive that bus.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Makes the whole OOC schedule awkward.       At the very least.

Not sure we'd get ALL the best players.  Kentucky already pays at least that much.

Do they not get any incentives for the NIT loss?

i think the best players would still choo to play at Kentucky for the established track to the NBA rather than rolling the dice.... They probably pay better too

You are probably right that we wouldn't be able to match what Kentucky is paying today.

I talked to a Louisville fan last weekend and asked who was paying for Peyton Siva's father to attend the games at the Garden.  I was told that it was one of those things that you don't know and never ask about.

I wouldn't do this as a first step, but if the football schools ever decide to split off and form their own tournament and cut us out, then I could see this as a response.  We could team up with conferences like the A10 and WCC to do something similar and have more schools to play against.

Not a very good idea.  Not sure what the point of getting the best players is if we are watching games against some club team from Luxembourg.

Litehouse

Maybe the league champion can have a 7 game series against the winner of the D-League.

Nothing says high quality basketball than a series between Seton Hall and Bakersfield....for the right to play some team full of sweaty Slavic men.
