I would guess it will be early next week.

MU B2002

They should do a "Selection show" format.  Revealing one school at a time.

When you're only adding three schools it would probably come off more like the LeBron James announcement show than the NCAA tournament selection show.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Understand, but they could still name them all.  We already know 50+ of the teams that make it in the tourney, but we still watch for those last 4 in.

+1

I would think that they would want to do it on either Tuesday or Wednesday--Monday will be lost with all of the post-bracket announcement frenzy, and Thursday/Friday will be too swamped with tourney games.  But, announce middle of the week and you get a news cycle or two where they'll be looking for some new material/storylines, with the added benefit of having it as a story line for all the NBE tourney games on Thursday/Friday.

Brad Stevens is sitting at a table with an A-10 hat and a Big East hat, he selects the Big East hat and the whole high school gym goes crazy!

I'd assume they announce all 5 (if its to 12 of course). The reason they're doing it in two steps is to save on exit fees, so if the league waits till next year to announce SLU and Dayton, say, they won't save on the exit fees because the schools won't officially be waiting, which is what will lower their exit fee.

I'm thinking that they'll wait until June to announce the two for 2014-15.  They'd be crazy to take SLU before they see what happens this spring regarding who their HC will be going forward.

Here is what I've heard. As always, take it for what it is worth, and no, I will not be giving any indication of sources and I let me record speak for itself:

1. Like it or not, you've heard who the teams will be. The shake out is whether it will be 10 or 12 right off the bat. Things are leaning towards 12 right away for 2013;

2. Official announcement may not come until after tourney so as to not have a big realignment story "interfere" with NCAA tourney. Some of this depends on the wishes of NCAA;

3. Lots of pieces are already in motion because of the sheer logistics of all of this. Again, this is why who the added schools are not as much a mystery as some would like to believe. There's lots of work to do. It'll be April very soon and fall sports will be reporting a handful of months after that. Schedules need to be made, uniforms made, etc.

So we're making a decision on SLU based on their current head coach? God I hope not.

They should do an NBA draft lottery type format.  The AD from Dayton can be there in a propeller beenie and the cameras can catch his sad face when he finds out he's team #13.

Their current head coach is an interim head coach.  They haven't recruited a player since Majerus left.  The campus is in open revolt against the school's president.  Will the athletic department be able to sort out what to do this spring with that going on in the background?  Or are people who need to be involved in the process going to be too distracted?  They lose some key players after this year.  For 2014-15 season, they basically have no one on the roster.  Do you really want to welcome them just as they are about to begin a run of years with sub 300 RPI's?

SLU has a prior history of getting the program on track and then letting to go down the drain.  They were at least where Creighton is now (top 10 attendance) in the late nineties.  Then Spoonhour left, and they started a slide into irrelevance that continued until they got Rick.

And his father stands behind him with an 8.5"x11" sign made with Microsoft Word WordArt saying "Buter + Big East".
