Ditto.  Why is there such a lack of information on this particular topic.  You think that MU's reigning team MVP not playing a game due to injury or for some other reason would have been worth noting in Rosiak's blog.

bananahammock

rumor has it he and TC weren't seeing eye to eye!  things became a bit volatile.  not sure on the validity but it came from someone who was supposedly at the game.

DAtruth

honestly if thats true, i am not terribly worried..i think they will hash out any differences for the greater good..i just dont want to see any injuries in september!!!!

Ask an older fan about the encounters Al McGuire had over the years with some of his favorite players.  In the end it always sparked positive play.  Look what he got out of Toone and the rest of the team in the final run to the NCAA Title.

The bottom line is a coach or teacher isn't doing his job unless he challenges his players.  You use a variety of approaches to get the message across.

IF this is true (remains to be seen at this point), I kind of like it.

Players need to take ownership in their team, and coaches need to maintain control over the whole thing.

IF Jerel and Crean are disagreeing, my guess is that Jerel (given his competitive nature) is trying to take a stand about his own team and game (something a leader does), and Crean is telling him how it's actually going to go (something a good leader does).

I obviously don't want animosity between the 2, and Jerel needs to remain a team player... but I don't have a problem when a team leader occasionally stands up to a coach, it's an important role, and a tough one to fill.

Also, this being such an early game, I don't think it's a big deal that the coach sits him down to exert some power back over the team. If this was a conference game, I'd be much more worried.

Apparently TC went over and talked to Jerel later during the game as well....I bet this stuff happens all the time in practice, but since they are generally not open to the public, nothing is mentioned.

I would not worry to much about it.

Sounds like no big deal, however look for Crean to bring this up as soon as McNeal has a big game on ESPN.

Or, when ESPN wants a human interest story so the average dope fan can relate to the #4 team in the country. Either way, it's pure evil concocted by Crean.

ecompt

Uh...if it weren't for Crean we would never be mentioned on ESPN.

I am still trying to figure out what the big deal is.   The coach of a team made a decision, asserting control of the team and making sure that his players knew he was in charge and that certain things are expected of them.     He made a public statement explaining his decision.    I would think that there would be hosannahs raining down from the sky that a coach held a player accountable and then explained in clear language why.    Man, we need the season to start soon so we can have real stuff to talk about.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

i'm really glad that Crean made this move.  With all the success and spotlighting all of the big 3 have gotten over the past few years, they have all gotten swollen egos...I've heard from someone who talks to James regularly that he's taken the events of the last few months to heart so I think that brought him back down to earth a little. If Jerel is going to get P.O'ed about his PT in an exhibition game then I fully commend Crean for sitting his arse down on the bench.
