I've been reading the forum for quite awhile now, and I've decided it's time to jump in. This fall, MU is scheduled to play in the DirecTV Classic (formerly known as the Anaheim Classic, and before that the 76 Classic). Creighton is also scheduled to play in that tournament. I believe there is a rule against having two teams from the same conference in an early-season tournament. So, assuming Creighton joins the new Big East this fall, either MU or Creighton is going to have to find a different tournament or a few extra non-conference opponents. Anyone have any insight into what might happen? What does everyone want to happen? (FYI, the rest of the field is Miami, San Diego State, Arizona State, George Washington, College of Charleston, and one team TBA)

I think West Virignia was in a tournament with a conference foe this season. Oklahoma maybe?

If it's scheduled before the switch it's fine.

Xavier and Butler played this year in a similar situation. The A-10 ok'd it. I bet the BigEast 2.0 will do the same.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

I asked Broeker about this a couple weeks ago, if MUs upcoming tournaments would change at all.  He just replied no, everything will remain the same.

Chico, did you have any input on recommending a team from Milwaukee for the tournament?

What are you basing this interpretation on? I haven't found anything yet... maybe there is a supplement from the NCAA that went out to schools and event operators... I have heard people say this before, just don't know where the ruling was or if there needs to be a exception granted on an individual case basis..

The Bylaws seem to be silent (i.e., one team per conference is the max, period).
