I really don't get why people put so much stock in these made up brackets by a single guy who, granted, has probably the best guesses out of anyone else out there but are still guesses regardless.

Sunbelt15

I'm cool with 4. As long as we're in.

per today's Lunardi's Bracketology.

Lunardi is a genius!

Not because he's great at bracketology but because he's made a successful career out of common sense and guessing. Anyone with an up-to-date RPI and a list of automatic bids could do what he does. He just did it first. Kudos to you, Joey Brackets.

CTWarrior

We are 13 on his S curve, making us the top 4 seed even though he put us with Duke, where the worst 4 seed should go.  I guess we can't in the same region with Louisville (last number 1) because the top 3 teams in each conference by rule have to go to different regions.

The teams ahead of us on his S curve are:

1. Duke
2. Indiana
3. Gonzaga
4. Louisville
5. Kansas
6. Georgetown
7. Miami
8. Ohio State
9. Michigan State
10. New Mexico
11. Michigan
12. Florida

He has UW still as a #4 seed...I guess losing at home to Purdue didn't hurt them at all, or getting blasted by MSU..They have an RPI of 42!!  ::) They are probably a 6 seed. would love to see them as a 5 with a play in game against a Kentucky/Nova something.

I want this quote to serve as a reminder to the vast majority of scoop posters in regards to the MU BB program.

THIS is exactly why I don't get why anyone pays any attention to what Lunardi says week-in, week-out. He has some good ideas/information, but all the good is completely counterbalanced by stuff like this.

Lol @ Wisconsin getting $hit on by fellow Espn posters.

How the hell are they a 4 seed?!

There isn't much difference between 1 or 2, and there isn't much difference between 4 or 5. But I'd definitely rather be a 3 than a 4, so hopefully we win a couple games in the BET, a couple teams ahead of us lose and we move up.

3. Marquette
14. Harvard

The committee will try to avoid this matchup as we already played UW during the season.

I would want nothing to do with VCU in this fictional scenario.  We would probably turn the ball over 30 times.

Bracket Matrix has us as the top 4 seed, similar to Lunardi.

Agreed.  VCU in the 2nd round?  Their style is our kryptonite.

UW is the Harvard of the Midwest after all.

Isn't Harvard the UW of the East?

Hey c'mon. They managed to score more than 40 points against MSU. That's gotta be worth something. ::)

Lunardi has always been good to great at predicting the teams to make the dance but hasn't been all that good at predicting the seeds themselves.

thebigjake

Love the 3 seed matched up with Michigan as the 2. HATE seeing VCU as the 6. Any other 6 would be fine

The bigger deal, IMO, than 3 vs 4 is where we get placed for the first weekend.  Detroit, Dayton, Lexington, even KC and Philly are all decent driving distances from Milwaukee, and close to lots of alumni.  Given the difference in our energy level in home v road games, I think this is much more important than our exact seed.

But, unfortunately, based on the schools we're competing with for desirable locations, most likely a 3 means we'll be at one of the locations (relatively) close to home.  4, and we're most likely getting shipped out west to TX, UT, or CA.

I don't care if the bracket sets Marquette up to play a 2nd round game against VCU or Duke or Kansas or the Miami Heat. If this team wants to make a run in the tournament, they're going to have to beat some good teams. Period. Quit crying about potential 2nd round match-ups and have some confidence in your team. Marquette is on the verge of becoming an elite national program but the fans still seem to think they're cheering for a team from the Great Midwest Conference.

Matchups are important, but you are correct, teams should be worrying about having to play Marquette in the second round not the other way around.

This is about right. The way I see it, any time MU either gets to the Sweet 16 or enters the tournament as a top 4 seed, its all good. That puts you in about the top 5% of college basketball. Not too shabby. It also means you are in position/have a reasonable chance of reaching the Final Four. Even if you enter as a top 4 seed, and go out in the first weekend, its disappointing, but so be it. Sometimes you lose. Doesn't mean you're suddenly a bad team, or even worse than the team that beat you. It might just mean you lost.
