Buzz Williams reflects on the Big East title

New York - He's not much for reflecting during the season, but a share of the Big East title had Golden Eagles coach going Saturday afternoon.

BIG EAST CHAMPIONS

Written by: noreply@blogger.com (TB)

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BIG EAST CHAMPS (.....& a h/t on the pic to TallTitan from MUScoop).

Here is video of Vander Blue's extraordinary game winner in overtime.

Here is Steve 'The Homer' True's call of Vander's game winner.

You know who is happy? Steve Taylor is one of about a dozen really happy folks who wore blue today. Marquette graduate Brad Galli jumped in as well.

Way to go, fellas.  Congratulations.

Williams: Marquette deserves more praise

Written by: mtrebby123

Head coach Buzz Williams thought something was off about how the Big East race was playing out in the media. With a victory against St. John’s, the Golden Eagles would be Big East regular season champions, yet no one seemed … Continue reading →

Beat ND and then go out and clobber UL. That will get people talking. UL has owned us at the garden. Time to change it.

len elmore seems like a nice enough guy, but the job he did this afternoon was simply awful.  i was really wondering if they knew mu was playing for the BEAST championship as they continued to question whether or not mu had written the game off as not being important since they already had their double buy.

Yep, after managing to call a passable game against ND, Patrick and Elmore were back to terrible.  And a pathetic job by whomever decided to give 10 minutes of camera time to players suspended for their own poor decisions as if we were supposed to feel sorry for them.

Not only were they terrible at announcing, but they clearly wanted SJU to win. It was obvious the entire game.

Patrick made a mess in his pants after a St. John pass characterizing it as the best pass he has ever seen. I suppose he has ever seen a no look pass before.

Sports journalism hyperbole. But to your point, Patrick and The Terrapin are awful. Ill-prepared, repetitive, gaffe-prone, and genuinely dull. I guess on a day when you have Duke vs UNC and SU at GU one shouldn't expect the A or B teams.

That was the best article and diatribe that Buzz has ever gone on. That guy speaks to my soul.  I've been yelling at my tv screen for the past few years while listening to our ESPN guys speak of our team. They've always been complimentary, but I haven't been satisfied.  Diatribe.... said it twice.

A pass that was actually deflected by Juan Anderson, completely ridiculous.

Just a warning, I'm almost positive that Patrick and Elmore will be calling our game on Thursday night. As the trio of Bilas, Raferty, and Mcdonough typically works the afternoon session.

Don't believe that's correct. Pretty sure they save the A-team for primetime.

Yeah, you are right. Just checked the schedule from last year. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/02/27/espn-college-basketball-championship-week-tv-schedule-march-1-9/122169/

At one time, Bilas did do the color for the afternoon session, with Elmore having the night games. Looks like that changed when ESPN created the three-man booth of Bilas, Raferty and McDonough.

Anyways, that's great news, because I've had my fill of Elmore and Patrick.

I think you're right, but they also typically ship out after Thursday, leaving Elmore for Friday and Sat night.

One of the best things about heading to Fox 1 may be getting away from Len Elmore.
/crosses fingers that Fox doesn't hire Len Elmore.

Fox does have Gus Johnson.  I'll enjoy when he does our games.  DJO's cold blooded call is one of my favorite tourney memories of all time

Bilas, Raft and McDonough did the BE Semi's and Champ game last year and will again this year. http://fangsbites.com/2013/03/espns-2013-championship-week-to-include-136-mens-basketball-games/

I don't recall a year where they got "shipped out".  Bilas, Raft and McDonough on the call for 8 games this year including the semi's and champ game.  Elmore and Patrick are on the call for 5 games.  I cannot take anymore Patrick/Elmore.

Most definitely have, typically moved over to call the ACC if I recall. May have been a couple years ago now though.
