MU Claims Share of BIG EAST Title With Win Over St. John's

Vander Blue's driving shot fell through the rim as the overtime buzzer sounded, giving No. 15 Marquette a 69-67 victory over St. John's on Saturday at Madison Square Garden, and a share of the Big East regular season championship, their first title since joining the conference in 2005-06.

Bump .. 3 years ago today.

I don't think anyone would have guessed we'd miss the next 3 NCAAs and lose 2400 season ticket holders.

The devil is collecting on whatever deal MU made to win the Big East and go to the Elite 8 that year.

Is there some basis in fact on the 2,400 season ticket claim?

Have we missed the 3rd NCAA...yet?

So ..  I recall Dr. Blackheart doing some math and coming up with -2400.

But checking, that appears a bit off, or we're starting from different years.  The guesstimate is based on .. finding the lowest attendance of the year, which is typically a weeknight cupcake game in early December that likely has zero walk-up sales.

I just checked a few .. these are indicative if not the exact lowest of the year.

2010 - Tues 12/7 vs Texas A&M-CC - 13,505
2015 - Wednesday 12/2 vs Grambling State - 11,618

.. So it's maybe closer to -1900 lost over the past 5 years.  Certainly a combination of factors, from the recession, to Buzz, to the BE changes, and 3 seasons of below average performance, etc.

While unmeasurable, I'd bet a box of donuts the butts in the seats number is down at least double that.
