Is seeding in the BE tournament. Even if MU has to share the BE Regular season title with UL, provided Cuse beats Georgetown, MU then becomes the #2 seed and would avoid UL until Saturday night. They'd play Georgetown instead(obviously assuming GU and MU both win their first games), and I'd gladly take that, especially over UL.

Even better...should MU win the title outright, obviously they then become the #1 seed, and would also avoid UL AND Georgetown until the final, and would get ND instead(again assuming both teams advanced to Friday). Now who wouldn't take a match up with ND Friday night, with a chance to go to the title game Saturday??

Regardless, their odds became much better of avoiding UL than they were previously.

I don't really care about what MU does in the BET, all that much. If they lose, Thursday, I would recover almost immediately, but I do want hem in that final on Saturday night. Though i think the ultimate impact on seeds, etc., would be somewhat limited, Theres just something about it, so I would love to be opposite UL, and Georgetown. If we could get Syracuse in the over half somehow, that'd be good too.

I think if we make the finals, we can be as high as a 3 seed, maybe the semi finals.  I think we are pretty set in that 4 spot though.

Thank God, I was hoping I wasn't the only one who thought this. Just win on Saturday, win one in the BET and starting getting ready for the real games immediately.

Why not win the tournament.  It would be 3 games in a row.  I think a team can recuperate before a game thurs/fri. And it has shown that the momentum of winning the tournament is huge (See UCONN)

I want to win the BET for one reason. The last three champions have gone to the final four.

I love conference tournaments, and I care greatly how MU does in it. First of all saying you don't care is saying you don't care if they lose. I will NEVER not care when they lose...EVER. I always want them to get to Saturday Night. EVERY college BB fan watches the Big east tournament Championship...it's a big deal. If MU could win that after either winning the regular season outright, or being a co champion, just validates their legitmacy even more. Championships are NEVER bad.

Besides, this team is as deep as any team in the NCAA, more this year than any other I am not in the least bit worried about three games in three days. if any team can handle it, it's MU.

Further...I'm not convinced that they can't be a #2 seed if they win the BE Tourney title. Bottom line, you never know what the commmittees going to do. We might think WE know who the 32 and #3 seeds are, but that could be different than how the committee sees it.

Winning the Big East Tournament Championship would be huge, in addition to the Big East Regular Season Championship.  See more tough teams, different styles of play, get as much work in as possible before 4-5 days between games, get the best seed/location possible, hang another banner, get prime time sports viewing on Friday and Saturday nights, deliver more momentum for the New Big East next year.  Hell yes I want to do well and perhaps even win the Big East Championship.  Buzz said we peed ourselves last year, hoping that means we're more than ready this year.

And this.  Not on board with any of this "don't care how they do" stuff, at all.
I want them to win, and the BE title game IS a a big deal.  And based on Eagle's
post above, there isn't too much of a drawback to playing until, and on, Saturday
night.

We are actually looking really good for a 3seed if we beat the Johnnies.  One win in the semi's and I think we're a lock.

The attrition from the last couple weeks has really leveled the playing field.  Even #1 seeds like IU already have 5 losses and may lose again at Mich this weekend.  MU's SOS is top 10 in the country and we're among a select few who've played an unreal # of top 25 games.

If MU beats St Johns and wins the BET, I'd be shocked if MU didnt get a 2 seed in the dance.

Thankfully this year, some top 4 seeds have bad losses... ie KU at TCU, Mich at winless PSU, Miami has arguably 4 (Ga Tech at home, pummeled at WF, FGCU, possibly ndiana state at home).

MU's rpi is 11 right now and with a couple more victories, we'll be very solid.

I have been seeing a lot of people on here wanting us to be a 2 or 3 seed in the BEast tournament because the games are in the evening. But if we do somehow get the 1 seed, which is going to take 2 teams winning on the road, we also would get the benefit of extra rest during the BEast tournament. Since the 1 seed plays the early game on Thursday and then doesn't play again until 7 on Friday night I believe.

Great point.  Never realized that, and I wonder if that's why the #1 seed always gets the early afternoon session.

This team has a good amount of depth at most positions, the least of my worries is an extra couple hours of rest (which will just be consumed by a crazy shoot around which you will hear about from the announcers)

Over the last ten years, teams in the "early afternoon" portion of the bracket have won five championships.  Teams from the "evening" portion have won...five championships.

I'm really not sure it matters much.  Because you are playing a semifinal against a team that also played in the afternoon and a final against a team that also played the night before.

I completely agree. I want them to win at least once in the BET and I would love to see them playing that Saturday.

How well will Nova do in the BE tournament?

Georgetown couldn't handle their pressure defense any better than we did. Turnovers galore -- 23.

Can Nova play that well anywhere other than on their home court?

Oh I agree with that. of course i want them to win, but I do know that if they did lose, I'd be over it about 30 seconds after the TV turns off, and ready to move onto he following Thursday (or Friday). The only time it would really bug me would be at the start of the final Saturday when MU isn't in it. Then again, that's the night before St. Patrick's day, so somehow I think I'll manage.

You're right that we'll all care once the ball is in the air. That said, if I had to choose between a win Saturday, lose Thursday scenario and a lose Saturday, win the Big East tournament I'd choose the latter.
