I have to admit I was completely wrong about this team.  After the UWGB and Florida losses I was a chicken little.  I thought NIT and I was OK with it since I thought this was a rebuilding year anyway.  But after what Buzz has accomplished this year and the recruiting class coming in, I hope he gets a huge contract extension.  This would be a huge step for the program going forward into the new conference.  A long lucrative contract would do wonders for the stability of program and future recruiting.  It would also put to bed any speculation of Buzz and LW not being able to work together and that the hatchet would be buried.  Congrats to Buzz and the boys on a great season and I will never question him again ;)

I love Buzz too, but how much more lucrative can it really be? I believe he's already one of the top 10 highest paid coaches, and most of the guys ahead of him have won national championships.

BenCat12

I didn't realize he was as high on the list as he is, but there is room to move up.  I would go 3.5, but I don't pay his salary ;D

Every name above Buzz has won a NC except Thad Motta, and tOSU made the FF last year.  So yes it is easy to spend someone else's money but why should Buzz get a salary that is paid to guys that win NCs?

Um, because we aren't going to get Jim Calhoun, Rick Barnes (thank god), Tom Crean, Beilein, Bo Ryan, etc...?

Given that we don't have blue blood pedigree, we might have to buy our way there.

So we don't end up with Mike Deane or Bob Dukiet

Mike Deane is retired and Bob Dukiet is dead.  So, I think your worries are misplaced.

So Crean lost over half a mill a year by going to IU?

raul

I didnt know he was making more than Crean, is that accurate? Either way with the success of Buzz and MU, no doubt that will have other schools making an offer to Buzz.

Just like they'll be making offers to Self, Izzo, Barnes, Calipari, etc., right.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

There's no way that list is accurate!  Bo Ryan doesn't make that much, I thought he made half of that. Where is this list from?

Christ there football coach barely made that much

Why? Because we have to pay (overpay if needed) in order to keep top coaches here.  That is just the way it is--like it or not.  I don't care much for the alternative.  Plenty of other schools wil pay Buzz today, and the last time I checked he has 0 NCs.

ceh

There are rumors flying around KC right now about a local coach who made some big errors in judgement.  One of these top positions could open up.

muwarrior69

Interesting that there are only 4 private institutions on that list.

I only see Marquette and Duke. The rest are public.

muwarrior69

Stand corrected thought Purdue and Louisville were private. What really stands out is that MU is the only non-football school on the list.

GGGG

I don't think Buzz is paid that much in terms of salary.  I think a good portion of this is a bonus.
