I hope this gets done.  If not, I hope the C7 leave and let it all go to arbitration.  The damages to the football schools will be minimal based upon the TV contract.  Get to arbitration fast, or develop another name for the conference.  But, get out now and settle the damages later!

The trouble with the Catholic 7 Presidents is typical of the attitude that most of the CEO's of the major college athletic schools in this country carry with them.

They are CLUELESS  on how  to make this all work. Sure, it's easy for the Catholic 7 Prez to agree to a deal which allows the St. John's. Georgetown's and Providence's of the world to play in a different basketball conference next season.

They don't have to worry about setting the whole thing up. Hiring a commissioner, staffing offices, finding officials to work the games, not only in basketball, but in the other sports which seldom generate headlines.

They don't? Who does this guy thin these conferences consist of?

GGGG

Ajerseyguy has some decent inside info, but it is when he starts making predictions and projections that his logic falls apart.  Remember, they hired a law firm to handle a lot of this.  It will get done because both parties want it to.

Except the football schools know that holding up the process messes with Fox, and that Fox was going to use the C7/Big East as a big deal at the media press conference on Tuesday.   So, now the football schools feel emboldened to hold up the C7 for more $$.

So, do the C7 want to pay more and if so how much?  I say leave and force arbitration on the name quickly or adopt a new name until the arbitration is completed.   Just get out either way.  Call the football schools bluff.

Fox does not want this.  They want the name.  And they want it Tuesday for their presser.

They want a name for Tuesday is correct. F#uck the football schools. This is a straight forward deal.

Anyone believe Fox Ports called a presser based on a rumor.

C'mon now. This is a done deal. Divorces are messy and it'll be a busy weekend for the lawyers, but this will get done. Everyone wants it so there's no reason for it not to happen, especially when it'll cost a pretty penny.

This is the last chance for the football schools to extract a few extra dollars.  I expect they will get some over the weekend, and the deal will be sealed Tuesday.  They have bargaining power up until Fox announces.  That power vanishes  if Fox does not announce Tuesday.  Fox will likely kick in a little extra to seal the deal.
