How many times have you written this in different threads?

And then you create a new one....?   ?-(

Also a perennial NCAA tournament team.  It is tough to win on the road.  Take care of business at home next week and everything is fine.   Syracuse is good, but very beatable away from the carrier dome.

This team is not as good as last year, but I still would not be surprised to see them in the sweet 16.   Hell, the fact that they are more than likely going to finish in the top 4 is remarkable considering what they lost.

Gotta love that we spent a total of 1 year while in the Big East finishing in 9th place (or below...and still went to the S16 that year) so we should include that as part of our "perenial" finishes in the Big East, yet we have also spent a total of 1 year finishing second in the Big East (and are still tied for 2nd this year) yet we should just discount that year like if didn't happen. Solid reasoning!

Anyways...

Good thing it's the last year of the Big East as we know it!

If only we could just be DePaul...

I've noticed that you have said this in about three different threads now.

The fact is that the last decade of Marquette basketball is the second best decade ever.  If you can't get exited over that, read a book or something.

Actually it is worse than that ... Here is what I wrote in the other post ....

It appears MU moves up on space every 2.5 hours after a loss.  Is that correct or do I need to do a scatter graph of your predictions over time?

It is 7:40 am right now, that means you have MU finishing between 2nd and 5th and by game time tomorrow night you'll have us winning the conference.

I find it pretty easy to get excited about this team.

What I should have said MU on average is a tied for fourth or fifth place team with 2 or 3 other teams (even if you average the 2nd and 9th place finishes)

anybody else ever want to see MU win a conference title?

anybody else tired of MU normally finishing behind the likes of Syracuse, Louisville, Georgetown and usually Pitt, UConn, ND (in the normal years).

MU is a mid-pack Big East team - nothing more, nothing less...

but hey, we should all celebrate tied for 4th's.... hang a banner for that and give everybody ribbons on this board...

and thanks for the name calling - I do point this out eveyr year if you want to go back the last few years and find my posts...

Yes and yes.

But you specifically said it didn't get you "excited."  Go do something else then.

DCWarriors04

Fourth or fifth best team in one of the best and toughest conferences...I'll get excited...and while I wish we could finish in first, it's a lot better than finishing in the bottom 8.

Sine the BE went to 16 teams in 2006 ...

* every team had a below .500 season except one ... MU

* only one team made the NCAA every year ... MU

Thank you Buzz Williams and Tom Crean.

We've been very fortunate to have the run we've had in the Big East

I enjoy watching MU basketball.

Thank God I saw your post and you set me straight.

It's not about enjoyment or entertainment. It's about RESULTS, and if they don't do what I want, I'm going to be UPSET!

WE NEED BETTER PLAYERS!

You list 6 teams that (in normal years) we finish behind.  But we average right at 4th to 5th place.  That means at most 3-4 teams finish ahead of us (in normal years).  Get your head checked, get some prozac and relax.

Instead of viewing this year as a failure because we lost AT Nova, maybe view it as a success because as late at Feb. 23rd, a team expected to maybe not make the tournament was still leading the Big East.

We do need better players. Better players would find it easier to win on the road, and upset some teams that are better.

I'm sick of hear people cry for more talent on the roster. Yes, we lack to BEPOY caliber guys that we have been blessed with in the past five years. But look at the teams we play: they generally go 7-8 deep. Buzz is able to pull full line changes confidently. If Vander continues to develop, Jamil gets even marginally better, and even one of our 5 recruits turns out to be a major contributor, we'll be a menace next season.

I don't know....back to back sweet 16s was pretty darn exciting.  When was the last time we did that?????????

1977!!

If you are not excited over this program and where we are now compared to where we were over the last 30 years then I think you should find someone else to root for.  Onwards and upwards but elite programs don't become elite over night.  The landscape has over the last 30 years for MU has been littered with NIT appearance or no post season appearances and what maybe two conference titles and you want to gripe and complain when we are sustaining success with winning records, NCAA appearances and Sweet 16 appearances?  No, we can't seem to get over the hump and win a conference title in one of the best conferences around. Yea we are not there yet.  Syracuse, Louisville and Georgetown all recruit consistently better than us but we are on the right track.  Why because we haven't had this much consistent success in a long, long time.  7 straight NCAA appearances, 2 back to back sweet 16 appearances and what looks like an 8th straight appearance.  Sorry if the program doesn't meet up to your standards at this point in time.

But oh yea, I forgot that we live in the what have you done for me lately, I need instant gratification mode or I have the right to bitch and complain that I deserve better.  This program has clawed its way back from the abyss and everyone would love nothing more then to consistently win conference titles and be National champ contenders every year.  I think we are close.  Great group of players coming back next year and some highly recruited new ones coming in.  Now we just need that one magical run or one player to emerge as a star to get those next level star recruits to seriously look at us like the Looney's of the world.

Agreed, it's becoming another ridiculous cliche
employed by this board.

Here is a list of the only NCAA basketball
teams that did not need better players:

1956 San Francisco
1957 UNC
1964 UCLA
1967 UCLA
1972 UCLA
1973 UCLA
1976 Indiana

tower912

Lather, rinsing, repeating has made MU the only Big East team to make it to the big dance every year in the 8 we have been in the conference.   It has sent MU to the sweet 16 for the last two years, for the first time since the tourney expanded to 64 (65, 68, whatever).   It has led to national writers, in the last week, singing hosannas toward Buzz for once again getting MU to a very good place this year, despite sending two player to the NBA draft and bringing in no impact players.  (Taylor will be  soon)    So, yes, I like the glistening shine and healthy feeling the lather, rinsing, and repeating gives me.

At the end of the tournament, there will be approximately 350 programs wishing they had better players and 1 champion.

Saying "we need better players" is the dumbest thing said on this board in a LONG time. Don't defend it.
