I'm not sure what's going on with Cadougan. He's playing quite poorly and Buzz has been visibly displeased with him recently, taking him out of games immediately after mess-ups and letting him sit on the bench. Tonight, Buzz had him out there for garbage time at the end.

Since carrying us in the Big East opener against UConn, he is averaging only 6.4 points on 41 percent shooting to go along with 4.1 assists and 2.3 turnovers. He had good games against Providence, DePaul and South Florida ... but so did a lot of players. Otherwise, he has been ordinary-to-bad.

Derrick Wilson is a 10-15 mpg defensive stopper who (thankfully) takes few chances with the ball. He is a role player, not a starting major-college PG. Here's hoping we don't have to rely on him in any big situations down the stretch this season. (And here's hoping that Duane Wilson is ready to contribute next season.)

IMHO, Junior will be the X-factor who determines how far we will go. To win games in the NCAA tournament, you have to get good -- maybe even great -- performances from your point guard. Especially when that PG also is supposed to be your senior leader.

I know it'll never happen, but I'd like to see Buzz start Derrick on Saturday.

Junior has been in a funk on the road this season. He's been really good at home. Maybe it snaps him out of it?

Junior is an enigma (but mostly just bad). With that being said, when was the last time we have had such a bad starting PG at Marquette? Maurice Acker, Dominic James, Travis Diener, and Cordell Henry were all much better than Junior. I don't remember much before Cordell. And don't give me Niv Berkowitz as an answer.

Look, I love Junior's toughness, but overall he isn't very good. Simple as that. He is a step slower than most PGs and it shows. He gets beat off the ball all the time which screws up the whole defensive rotation causing other players to help.

I have no problems with Jr. Would much rather him be in the game then D Wil.

ChicosBailBonds

In typical Junior style, I anticipate he will have an insanely good game this weekend.  Just when he's done, he has a memorable game.

Boone

I'd rather have him in the game than Derrick, too, but that isn't saying much. As inconsistent (to put it kindly) as Junior is, Derrick is brutal. In BE play, he's shooting a combined 1 for 18 from the floor and 4-11 from the line.

I hear ya. Every time DWil enters a game, I sigh and say, "That's not gonna help our offense." Sometimes, it actually does help the offense because it puts the ball in the hands of Blue more. Sometimes, it kills us because at least Junior has a prayer of hitting a shot-clock-beater or driving for a layup.

But say this for DWil: At least you know what you're gonna get from him. You know you're gonna get no offense, but he keeps his man in front of him when he's on D and he's gonna work his butt off.

I will miss Junior's tempo, push, and grittiness.
I will NOT miss his lack of O, high dribble, and insane TOs.

I look forward to the DWils, esp Duane, next year.

Well, I hope everyone braces themselves for next year, when Buzz hands the keys over to Derek Wilson. Buzz said he has promised him the starting spot next year and that he really believes in DWill.

Tony Miller ----> Aaron Hutchins ---> Cordell ---> Travis ---> Dominic

That's a legendary run.

Ha.  Junior has inspired emails among my friends that one day say: "we should have never burned his red shirt, he'd be so valuable next year" and then one game later: "Bench JC, play Derrick Wilson, and hope Dwayne can play next season"

If Vander is still here, I want him starting at PG or at least handling a lot of that responsibility.

You forgot the best run: Meminger --->McGuire--->Washington--->Walton--->Boylan--->Worthen--->Rivers--->Mandy

In a 2000 Chicago Sun-Times article about Al McGuire, Bo Ellis shared some stories with Coach McGuire before he passed. One of them involved Marcus Washington:

"One of my all-time favorites for Coach, and I told him the other day, was at practice when (players) Marcus Washington and Dave Delsman got into each other's face and Coach steps in to break it up," Ellis said. "Marcus steps back, but Delsman won't stop, so Coach says, `I say that's enough.' Delsman starts cursing, and he and Coach curse back and forth. Coach grabs him by his shoulders and they start wrestling. Before I know it, they're on the floor, rolling around in a bear hug. That was my very first practice ever at Marquette. I was back in the corner watching this thing and thinking, `What have I gotten myself into?'"

Thanks. While I know who those players are, I wasn't around at the time to know what order they played in... Legendary run indeed.
