The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

You have Tulane on the left twice and UConn is nowhere to be found!

Given that table, I don't see how the C7 doesn't keep the name if they want it. While not technically dissolving the league, that really seems like what happening. It's interesting....exciting times in college hoops.

In your other Breitbart article on brand value, you mention the C-7 have a 7-3 edge on any vote for the future of the Big East brand.

http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-Sports/2013/02/08/Three-brands-fight-for-one-buy-one-give-away-another

My question is why Syracuse, Pitt, Louisville, Rutgers and Notre Dame aren't still part of this vote.  Aren't they in the same sort of purgatory as the C7 (annouced they're leaving but not gone yet)?  Why would the Big East still give a vote to Georgetown but not to Syracuse, for example?

I suggest calling the C7 conference -  Big East only Basketball
I suggest calling the dual sport conference - Big East with Football.  Then everyone would be happy.  Or alternate years with the "Big East" name and off years "Not the Big East Conference this Year".

Perhaps they haven't given their official notice yet?

Syracuse and Pitt will officially be in the ACC as soon as the spring sports are over - they announced earlier than the rest and paid a small fee to cut the 27 month notice period. Their year of "purgatory" was technically this school year.

The league seems to think otherwise:
"The basketball institutions have notified us that they plan to withdraw from the Big East Conference."
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2012/12/15/catholic-7-announce-official-departure-from-big-east/1771579/

What I don't understand is that if we actually have voting control of the league with a 7 to 3 majority, why wouldn't the following simply be approved on a series of 7 to 3 votes:

a) Accept the departure of the C7 following the 2012-13 academic year.
b) Waive any C7 departure fees.
c) Transfer the Big East brand to the C7
d) Transfer the MSG contract to the C7 for their conference tournament
e) Pay full share of the departure fees from UL, Pitt, SU, Rutgers, ND to the C7.
f) Transfer future NCAA tournament credits to departing C7 teams

Yet all these are being reported as subject to negtiations and/or court battles.

If we really do, as reported, "have a window of a couple of months with a two-thirds vote (7-3) during which they can take the Big East name", then why hasn't it been already done?

I posted this last week.  Since they C7 have the majority of original members that are left, we get the name "The Big East Conference".  The remainders can go by "The Big East Football Conference."
I know there is an example like this in sports or the business world but I can't recall offhand.

Once I planned to withdraw, as well.  It didn't matter, the kid still came nine months later.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
